[32:15]Verse 3: “knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires.”
[37:20]Verse 4: “They will say, ‘Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.’”
[40:46]Verse 5: “For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God,”
[41:35]Verse 6: “and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished.”
[41:54]Verse 7: “But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.”

Interpretation questions- Peter calls the church “beloved” several times. How does being deeply loved by God through Jesus shape the way a believer hears commands to remember, repent, and live in holiness? [32:41]
- Scoffers want life to continue without God’s rule over them. In what ways can a person’s desire to remain in control make God’s Word feel inconvenient or unwelcome? [38:34]
- Peter says the day of the Lord will come like a thief, but he does not tell believers to make endless predictions. What does faithful readiness look like differently from date-setting or ignoring Christ’s return? [49:32]
- Peter connects waiting for Christ with holiness, godliness, gospel witness, and prayer. How can faithful obedience be part of God’s redemptive work without believers trying to control God’s timetable? [56:21]
Application questions- What truth from Scripture do you most need to remember right now: God’s forgiveness, the seriousness of sin, Christ’s return, God’s patience, or the hope of new creation? What simple daily rhythm could help keep that truth in front of you? [35:03]
- Where are you most tempted to let emotions, cultural pressure, popularity, or personal preference become a louder authority than God’s Word? What would it look like to place that area back under Jesus’ rule? [39:07]
- God’s patience means there is still time for repentance, gospel witness, and growth. Is there a person you are praying would come home to God, or a relationship where you need to take a step toward repentance or restoration? [47:03]
- Christ’s return should produce hope, urgency, courage, holiness, and godliness rather than fear or endless speculation. Which of those qualities feels most needed in your life this week, and why? [51:37]
- Holiness is being set apart for God, and godliness is living with love, honor, and reverence for Him. How could those qualities make a practical difference in the way you speak or act with your family, coworkers, neighbors, or friends this week? [52:47]
- Jesus calls His people to be salt and light, not to look down on others or withdraw from them. Where might a life marked by humility, integrity, patience, or service create curiosity about Jesus in your everyday circles? [54:52]
- Diligence in following Christ includes Scripture, prayer, confession, restored relationships, service, and being known in Christian community. Which one of these areas has been neglected lately, and what is one realistic step you could take this week? [59:53]
