“It is the overall truth and teaching of God's word that is gonna be the foundation to everything else we do. Let me tell you. Let me ask you. Does the scripture does the scripture permeate your thought processes and your life decisions? Does it permeate your thought processes and your life decisions? If not, why not? Well, some would say because, preacher, I don't understand it. If you don't understand it, what are we doing to learn it? We got an enemy. Satan's the enemy. Sometimes it's easy to take our ire toward the flesh and blood. Satan is the enemy. And if we're gonna overcome him, it's going to be because we are grounded in truth. Grounded in truth.”

“That's what Paul said when when you come to second Timothy chapter one, what does Paul say? I know whom I have believed. What he's saying is, my truth is founded. My truth is certain. In Ephesians, where we've been preaching through back in chapter four, if you remember, he gave them he says, and he gave some apostles and some prophets and some evangelists and some pastors and teachers for the perfecting of the saints, sanctification, for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ till we all come in unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the son of God under a perfect man, under the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Why? That we henceforth be no more children tossed to and fro and carried about by every wind of doctrine. Okay? So he is laying this groundwork, and then he comes here and he says, the first thing you must do if you're gonna be armored and prepared for the battle against Satan, You must have your life girded with the truth that God has declared.”

“So he's giving them that. Now, when you come to the sword of the spirit, I'm gonna talk a little more. I don't wanna get too far ahead of that. You're gonna see the more specific and the offensive aspect of it. But in this section, when he says having your life, having being girded with truth, putting on the girdle of truth, he's saying the first thing you need to do is you need to seek to learn and come to know what God teaches, and then you need to take that knowledge to protect yourself from error. What an important truth. Sometimes my concern is the question of, do we really know and understand the truth that God teaches in a way that it guards as well as guides our life.”

“Paul said, put on the girdle of truth. Put on the girdle of truth. Everything else he's gonna do, everything when a Roman soldier was getting ready to go to war, when he was putting on his armor, the first thing he would do is he would put that girdle on, that belt on, that would bring those garments together. It was by the way, it was functional and it was freeing. Because what he was do what he would do is, as he as he brought that around, he would pull that garment in together. In some cases, they would even take and reach in in in in on some of the longer robes, they'd reach in and bring the the back of the robe up and tuck it into the front of the girdle so that their legs were free to move about.”
