“We are saved by grace, not by works. Fair enough. Okay. So, I think the reality of a Christian life is that um you're in a completely dark I think I've told you before. I'll do it again. If I've done it again, just raise your hand, but you already told us. Okay. All right. Um you're in a completely dark room. Like, who's ever been to the cave out in Rapid City where it gets it's crazy dark? It's that dark. You're in that dark of a room. Okay. There is a single light that's hanging over you maybe 15 20 feet and it's got one of those oldfashioned cones on it. Remember those cones they used to put on lights that hang down.”
“So what it does is it it creates this perfect circle of light on the floor. Okay. This is the love of Christ. Now light destroys darkness. Can darkness exist in this light? It cannot. So if you're in the middle of the light, do you have anything to worry about? No, you do not. Right? So it's as simple as thing is that I need to draw near to Jesus. I need to be in this light. I don't have anything to fear at all. It's a very simple thing. Right? So the light doesn't come from me. It comes from God. I just need to be near him.”
“What happens though when I start wandering? towards the edge of the line. I make myself more vulnerable to the attacks of the devil. And this is what you see with almost every possession story nowadays. They're dabbling with Ouija. They're dabbling with Wick. They're dabbling with something else. They're playing with forces they don't understand and they cannot comprehend in a very very dangerous way and infects them poorly.”
“So, it's really simple, right? It's it's just stay in the light of Christ. How do you do that? You show up to church regularly. You take the sacrament. You come to Bible study. And I'm telling you, you do these simple things, which which God is already calling us to do anyway. This is third commandment stuff, right? But just being near to Christ will make you virtually, no, I'm not gonna say virtually, will make you immune to the attacks of the devil.”
“If you're in in the light of Christ, you are immune. That's not a bad my brother didn't hang around. She could be okay. Any other questions about deos or this story. Let's We didn't read the whole thing. Let's Let's uh read on. By the way, there's another story where a a demon possessed boy, he he has like seizures and fits and he foams them out and he routinely tries to throw himself into the fire or off cliffs. So, or no, I'm not sorry, into the fire, into the water. Right? So that another example in the Bible here, it's actually I think in the Mark where humans are obsessed with trying to destroy human flesh.”
“You know, by the way, there could be a possibility, right? You're laboring under something just awful and you just feel spent and you feel worn out and you feel just being beat up all the time. I mean, there's a possibility that the devil and demons are on you as hard as they can. And I'm just saying that spiritual warfare is a real thing to try to get you to come talk to your pastor. He will honestly talk to you about it and we will find ways in which you battle against going on.”
“So this demon maybe thinks since he knows the name of Jesus and he knows who he is, he can control Christ. So that's why he says you you can't torment us, right? Well, Jesus like do what I want, pal. I made all this stuff. You can't tell me what to do. Um so that's I think what's going on here. And then he turns around, right? Uh um what have you come? What have you do with me, Jesus, son of the most high God? Then I adure you by God, do not torment. Now he's begging, don't do not torment.”
“What do you think torments a demon? Luther used to talk about this. It was pretty funny. He would always comment like he he enjoyed tormenting devils. He thought it was fun. What what torments the devil see uh talking about God about his mercies made new every morning. Yeah. Absolutely. Reciting Bible vers. Absolutely. Absolutely. I cannot recommend this enough. If you're doing Bible study on your own, like you do a personal private which by the way all you should personal private Bible study.”
“Do not read your readings in your head because they don't do any damage to demons in your head. Read them out loud and the devil and the demons will flee from this word of God. They hate hearing the word of God. Praying out loud, same thing. Singing hymns. Absolutely. You want to make devils flee from you, sing a hymn. Read the scriptures. Pray out loud to Jesus.”
“When he speaks, things happen. When he spoke into the the nothingness, let there be light, there was light, right? So, when he says, come out. This is not something someone can be like, "No thanks. I don't want to come out of him." When Jesus's spirit come out of him, it's like he can't resist this. It's going to happen. So, he's like begging him as Jesus is telling him, "Come out." Right?”
“So when this crazy thing happens where this man who was breaking chains apart goes to being sane and the pigs that were completely fine in the hill rush themselves into the sea. See now we can actually see the workings of the kingdom of God. Whatever was in this guy went into them and now they are dead. So Christ is completely victorious over the situation.”
“There's a time for demons and devil and the kingdom of hell to be thrown into the lake of fire and be done away with completely and that time hasn't come. That would be my only answer for that. That by the way, if you didn't know that that's part of revelation, right? So that hell itself, the devil and all his minions and all people by the way who are there unfortunately that's sad truth that thing will be thrown into a lake of fire and we'll live in a new heavens and new earth where, as far as I can tell from reading scripture we'll have no contact with that.”
“Also teaches us pretty clearly that our paradise, our life with Christ will not ever be with sin or evil or any of this ever again. So somehow we'll just never see or contact that thing ever again. But there's a time and a place for demons to be punished. That time hasn't come. I guess that'd be my answer to it. And and the story doesn't definitively tell us like where do the demons go?”
“The powerful word of God, it scares people. It It damages business. Maybe it's something we can learn, too. Uh, do we think that we can go through life as business people, as farmers, as uh workers, um, uh, factory workers, whatever. Do we think we can go through life and the following of Jesus is never going to have a financial impact on us. Is that realistic? It is not.”
“We believe in Christ. He is our savior. He's given us everything. It's going to occasionally impact our checkbook. And if you're sitting at the end of your life and Christ has never impacted your checkbook, that might be”
“This woman was perpetually unclean she was never going to run from her uncle it's not just being sick for her it's being seen by other people as as being there's a difference in the Jewish culture between being unclean and being sinful, but they unfortunately they're they're pretty close neighbors. So when you're unclean, you're kind of seen as being sinful, too. This woman lived a life where everyone thought she was unclean and sinful even though it wasn't her fault.”
