1. "In other words, he's giving us this idea of being in a state of readiness for the coming of the Lord. Now, last week, Pastor Barney spoke from 1 Peter chapter 3, and Peter said, be ready to give an answer for the hope that is in you. Now, when he spoke those words, he spoke it within the context of persecution. The church was going through intense persecution. I'm not talking about a little thing here and there, somebody insults you, somebody badmouths you, somebody speaks evil. I'm talking about being thrown before the lions."

2. "So how do we draw closer to God? How do we develop a heart for God? It's through Bible study, through reading the Word of God, and through prayer. And through fellowship as well. These are ways in which we are drawn closer to God, and we develop a heart for God."

3. "The truth is, the reason why we need to have a back to church Sunday is because church is not as important as it used to be. It is not important. It's one of the things that is kind of low down on some of our priorities. For some of us, it is a high priority. For many people, it's a low priority."

4. "So the idea of back to church Sunday is to encourage believers, to coax believers back into the pews, to come back into the facility because this is where we gather, and this is how we come back to the Lord."

5. "So the writer of Hebrews is telling us, since we see the day coming, and how do we see the day coming? How do we know the day is coming? Well, we talked about it a little while ago when we said there are signs, wars and rumors of wars, famines, pestilences, all these things, things happening, nations rising against nations. These are some signs that tell us we're getting closer."

6. "You know, the apostle John and his writings, he invited people to come into a power of us into a fellowship he says that which we have seen and heard that which we have handled of the word of life he says we declare it unto you and it says when you come together he says he said through your fellowship is it God the Father and with his son Jesus Christ so as you develop a heart for God you want to be in fellowship you want to be in a part of a relationship with the people of faith people of like precious faith as it will not all Christians and the Christians in the times of Nero one of the reason why they had this hope is because there were they were a community of believers they understood we could depend upon one another sometimes we lack that within the modern church"

7. "You know, the thing about it for Christian believers, a Sunday morning should be the most exciting time. I can't wait to get up in the morning and put my clothes on and come and greet the believers. Amen. Come early too. Don't come just as student service is starting. Come and meet people. Get to know them. Find out who they are because that's what fellowship is all about."

8. "You know, the thing is, if you're not seeing what you should see in the church, don't complain about it. You be the person that you think the church should be. Does that make sense to you? You know, there's one, somebody once said, you be the goodness that you want to see in the world. So when in other words, when you look around, you see nothing is going well, well, you make things go well. You make things go well. You make things go well. You make things go well in your sphere. Don't worry about anybody else. Don't worry about anybody else. You start making it."

9. "You know, good works will not get you to heaven, but you can't get to heaven without good works. You see, Jesus did everything that you need for salvation. But because of the salvation that we have through Jesus Christ, we are expected to do good works. You're expected to be a part of what's happening in the community for the goodness of God and to glorify God's name."

10. "So the writer of Hebrews says, don't be like those people. Don't be like those. And he says, exhort one another so much the more as you see the day approaching. Which brings us back to where we started. As the day approaches, as we get closer and closer to that time, we ought to strongly encourage one another. You know, the word exhort in this context means to strongly encourage someone, to urge them to do something. So we strongly urge and encourage people to stay in fellowship, to stay in fellowship with one another, get to know one another."
