#FaithIsCyclical
“``But the thing about the journey is that you can't get that Google map out from a to b. It never works like that. It doesn't work like that, nor is it straight. I always thought that becoming a Christian would be like this. You know, I'm going from height to height, growth to growth, better to better. It's not. It's not like that. It's cyclic. It's backwards. It's forwards. You know, sometimes you feel as though, lord, I thought I was forgiven. I thought that had been dealt with, and the issue comes up again. Have you had those moments? time to go into, lord, what are you saying? Is there something deeper? I am forgiven, but are you saying something else? So we do come back, and we do need to identify name and find god again in that place. So that's the second thing.”

#JesusInTheGarden
“Jesus was in another garden facing death, agony, sweats of blood coming down, ministered to by angels. He was in very hostile places at peace, never losing it, trusting. He had an emotional journey. He celebrated. He rejoiced when his disciples did this. He had patience as he waited. He celebrated. He was partying. He was grieving John the Baptist's death. Wrestling in every way, Jesus was tested like us, and yet he always found his father in that place.”

#GodCarriesYou
“Packing lightly rather than carrying around the baggage of the years, the sadness, the sorrows, the resentments, the bitterness, the things that weigh me down. There's a beautiful picture in Isaiah 46 of god who carries his people all the time. And that picture there is in contrast to the Babylonian gods Nell and Bello. Okay. They're two of their gods. And picture starts with the people carrying around the heavy weights of their god. And it's contrasted with, wow. Your god carries you, so you're being carried. You don't have to carry the baggage. Remember that. No baggage. Travel lightly.”

#BeAtHomeWithJesus
“Remember three things we started with. Where we are, god is. Experiencing in that place is the beauty of living well with god. Meditate. Read Psalm a 139. Secondly, we said life is a journey. It's not linear or progressive or hierarchical. True, we are growing and learning, and yet we still visit places we've been to before. Thirdly, living well is best done in company even when we need time out. Wherever you find yourself, you can be gifted with the divine presence and sacredness always. So being at home with Jesus wherever you are is the best place of all.”

#LiveWellWhereYouAre
“Meanwhile, where we are on our journey matters. We often talk talk about it as the not yet. So here we are from the garden to the garden city, and in a way, I'm in exile. So what does god call me to do? To live well, to pray, to build houses, to settle down, to give and take in marriage, to look after the gardens, to eat from it. That is the message.”

#EmbraceDetours
“On the journey, there'll be detours. Remember the sermon that Renee did on detours in January? If not, just Google it and find it. It'll be there. detours need to be accepted as places from God. A detour, the cancer I didn't want, the death of a child, the early death of a partner, a parent, a divorce, an accident, conflict, loss, disappointment, failure, perceived, We didn't ask for these, but they are the given detours of our life over time, and god here.”

#EnjoyTheNow
“Yes. There's a destination, but meanwhile, we are to enjoy each other and the presence of our god because where we are, our god is in all his fullness. The earth and creation at the moment is crying out for a full redemption of humanity. Romans eight, Paul paints a beautiful picture of creation in one translation that talks about creation standing on tiptoe waiting for that last day so it too can be restored and redeemed.”

#JesusHumbleAndMajestic
“Look at the story of Jesus. He from heaven to earth, from glory, purity, holiness, brilliance to a belly stable where someone had to feed, clothe him, and change his underwear. Jesus went to the desert led by the spirit, tempted by the devil, and ministered to by angels. Jesus in the storm, everyone fearful. He's asleep. How dare he? Demonstrated power and majesty, and he taught his disciples.”
