Just as physical hunger drives us to seek nourishment, a spiritual hunger draws us to the Lord. Many people will walk away from a spiritual gathering having merely observed, while others will leave truly full, sustained by the pleasures of God and His word. This difference lies in the hunger of our hearts. When we genuinely long for more of God, He promises to fill us, not just entertain or amuse us. This deep desire for Him is the starting point for experiencing His abundant life and promises. [48:12]
Matthew 5:6 (ESV)
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”
Reflection: Where in your life do you currently feel a spiritual hunger, and what small step can you take today to seek God's sustenance in that area?
We live in a world where unseen spiritual realities profoundly impact our daily lives. The challenges we face are often not merely against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces that seek to hinder God's promises for us. To walk in the fullness of what God has for you, it is essential to press into the things of the Spirit and understand that we serve a supernatural God who is actively involved in the lives of His people. When we walk by faith, not by sight, we begin to see the greater reality of His power at work. [58:19]
Ephesians 6:12 (ESV)
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
Reflection: When faced with an impossible situation, how might you shift your perspective from relying solely on natural solutions to actively engaging God's supernatural power through prayer and faith?
The story of Jericho reveals a profound truth: simple obedience leads to God's supernatural results. It might seem counterintuitive to follow instructions that appear illogical, but God's commands are not hoops to jump through; they are invitations into the abundant life He desires for us. When we choose to obey His word, we are not surrendering our freedom but stepping into a better way of living, trusting that His wisdom will lead to outcomes only He can orchestrate. This principle is for every person who chooses to simply obey His word. [01:02:28]
Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (ESV)
“And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God.”
Reflection: Reflect on a time when you experienced God's supernatural intervention after taking a step of simple obedience. What did that experience teach you about His faithfulness?
God's heart as a Father longs for our immediate and complete response to His commands. Delayed obedience is, in essence, disobedience, much like a child postponing a chore. Similarly, partial obedience, doing only part of what God asks, misses the full scope of His intended blessing. When we respond promptly and wholeheartedly to His instructions, it honors Him and unlocks His supernatural power in our lives, paving the way for His miraculous work. [01:13:39]
Joshua 6:6-7 (ESV)
So Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the Lord.” And he said to the people, “Go forward. March around the city and let the armed men pass on before the ark of the Lord.”
Reflection: Is there an area where God has given you a clear command, but you've been delaying or only partially obeying? What is one concrete step you can take this week to move towards immediate and complete obedience in that area?
True obedience flows from a sincere heart, one that understands God's sovereignty and our place before Him. Joshua's encounter with the Commander of the Lord's army shifted his perspective from "Are you for us or for our adversaries?" to "What does my Lord say to His servant?" This posture of worship gives us proper perspective, reminding us that God is not a means to an end, but the Almighty One worthy of all honor. When we worship, we acknowledge His infinite nature and our finite being, aligning our hearts to ask, "God, what can I do for You?" [01:17:16]
Joshua 5:13-15 (ESV)
When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing before him with his drawn sword in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?” And he said, “No; but I am the commander of the army of the Lord. Now I have come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped and said to him, “What does my Lord say to his servant?” And the commander of the Lord’s army said to Joshua, “Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.
Reflection: How might cultivating a daily practice of worship and reading God's word help you maintain a sincere heart and proper perspective, shifting your focus from "what can I get?" to "what can I do for You?"
God summons a hunger that is not satisfied by entertainment or ritual but by being fed at the table of His word. That hunger fuels a posture of faith that acts when God instructs: like Joshua at Jericho, God’s people were commanded to march, to bear the ark, to blow trumpets, and—only at the appointed moment—to shout. The shout (Hebrew ruah) signals both praise and the activation of heaven; faith celebrates the promise before the evidence appears. The narrative underscores that the presence of God—not strategy or human cleverness—brought the victory: the ark accompanied every circuit, and the walls fell forward, creating ramps into the city in a way that archaeology confirms as miraculous.
The essential claim is stark and practical: simple obedience leads to God’s supernatural results. Obedience looks ordinary—get up early, walk in the way instructed, honor God with firstfruits—but when done immediately, completely, and from a heart of worship, it invites God’s extraordinary intervention. Circling a problem in prayer and worship is not passive foolishness; it brings the presence that terrifies spiritual opposition. Finally, the text calls for a return to first things: daily reading of Scripture, a disciplined rhythm under the revealed will of God, and a posture of sincere worship that asks not primarily “What will God do for me?” but “What can I do for Him?” The promise is tangible: when God’s commands are met with faithful obedience, the supernatural follows. The congregation is invited to respond—renewing daily practices, returning to surrendered devotion, and stepping into the promises God has already announced.
In fact, when Elisha, when they were surrounded by an army, he wasn't tripping. He was calm even though there were hundreds of thousands of soldiers ready to wipe them out completely, and his his servant was freaking out. And he said, God, would you open his eyes? What happened? He got to see for a moment into the spirit and saw a myriad of angels and that the armies of heaven were greater than the armies in the natural that were standing before him. I wanna tell you today, if you are only fighting in the natural, you are fighting a losing battle as a believer.

it's the main point I wanna give you today. If you got something to write down, notes, please do it. I want you to write this down. It has changed my life. It is the key from going to a cultural Christianity experience to a supernatural Christianity experience of following the God of the Bible, and it is this. Simple obedience leads to God's supernatural results.

So we see this amazing supernatural story. The walls fall down. The people shout. They didn't even fight. And the walls come crumbling down. And you you might be thinking yourself, well, yeah, well, that was Joshua. That was this man of God. That was, you know, back in those days. And okay. You say it's not mythology, but it's kinda hard to believe, but that's just for them. Right? No. No. God's supernatural results are for any person who simply obey his word and simply obey his commands.

See, all through the Bible, there are promises, and God shows us how obeying his promises leads to living in his supernatural results. Deuteronomy 28 says this, if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth, and all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. And the rest of the chapter, they just said, and you'll be blessed when you're going in and blessed when you're coming out. You'll be blessed in the field, and you'll be blessed at home, and all these different blessings that they begin because all through the word command the the walking in the promises and the commands of God are tied to obedience. And so what does simple obedience look like? I wanna give us three things God was showing me very simply from this passage that we read today in Joshua's story and the people of God. Three things, how we simply obey. Number one, we obey immediately.

Obey immediately. See, God gives Joshua specific instructions. And then in verse six, he says, Joshua, the son of Nun, called the priest and said to them now don't miss that. It didn't say that Joshua went to the tent where his commanders were and and kind of studied over the Lord's battle plan to see if it was better than theirs. No. No. It just says he called them together and got going. He obeyed immediately. You know, you've maybe heard this said is delayed obedience is disobedience.

If you don't follow completely, you will not end up at the results. Right? You're like, how did that shelf get like this instead of it's because it's cartoons with no words on the instructions. That's why. We have to follow God's instructions completely if we're going to walk into the supernatural results that God wants for our lives. I wanna tell you today, pay attention to God's commands and do them completely.

So let me tell you this today. The reason that we worship is because worship gives us proper perspective. Every time I come into a worship time, it's not, God, if I do this, can you speak? Even though I need him to speak. God, if I do this, would you heal? Even though I need him to heal. God would if I worship and if I come to church, Lord, would you direct even though I need his direction? No. No. It's I stand and say, God, you are God in heaven, and here am I on earth. So I stand in awe of you.

God, would you and your grace and your mercy and your love lead us back to where we left off? Father, we pray that, Lord, we would be people of the word of God. That, Lord, your word would be a lamp to our feet and a light to our path, that your word would change our lives, and that, God, we would simply obey. And, God, I know because I've seen it in my life, we will then begin to see your move supernaturally in our lives because simple obedience lead to God's supernatural results. And, God, I pray that for all of my friends today, for everyone who calls the father's house home. God, let us not be those who who have a cultural Christianity, but, God, let us be one that live the life that you have for us. And so, Holy Spirit, just in these few seconds, I ask you to reveal to every heart right now because you love them,
