42s
“``Humility is not thinking less of yourself. It's thinking of yourself less. So don't think less of yourself. Think of yourself less. I'm not talking I'm I'm talking here about the freedom that comes with self forgetfulness. When we forget to think of ourselves, to no longer be concerned with our own self assessment, even our own self improvement, improvement, or self image, but to surrender those things over to God, to replace that with a love and a focus on him, who he is, and what he wants.”
49s
“Jesus was the best example of humility we will ever see. anyone at all had a reason to be prideful, it was Jesus. He was God in the flesh. He was the creator of everything, and yet he chose to take on the form of a human being to humble himself. He was God deserving of all praise. But instead of all that he legitimately deserved, he gave it all up so that he could be mocked, so that he could be rejected and murdered. And he did that for each one of us. He did that for me, and he did it for you.”
45s
“If you think you deserve praise and respect, Jesus deserved it more and he gave it up willingly. If you think that someone is coming at you unfairly, Jesus was unfairly betrayed, He was unfairly condemned, and he was unjustly killed. Do you find it hard to resist the chance to get back at someone, to even the score, to even the playing field? Jesus had all power and authority. He held back and he entrusted to God what would happen with the people who betrayed him, who killed him. In fact, on the cross, he asked God to forgive them because they didn't know what they were doing.”
46s
“David doesn't recognize God's greatness in order to earn God's favor. He recognizes that he didn't earn or even deserve God's favor. David's focus is not on himself. His focus is on how amazing God is. He's talking all about God's promises, God's will, God's glory. It's God's greatness that David is speaking of. David was blessed by God, and David was humble in receiving the blessing because God blesses the humble.”
