#RootedInSpirit
“``Setbacks cause us to realize we're not enough. When we're enduring troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind, We don't have what it takes to admit that. We don't have what it takes to look like or sound like Jesus. We need the holy spirit's help. Suffering is the way of Jesus. It's not something to be ashamed of. When you go through a tough time, you don't have to hide it. It is part of the upside down kingdom way of proclaiming something beautiful in the middle of tragedy. It's not just ignoring the setbacks and pain, but remaining grounded, joyful, and steadfast with the help of the holy spirit. Showing that our roots are planted way deeper than the surface level circumstances that we have. That's the beauty of what we're after.”

#AmbassadorsOfLight
“As ambassadors, we carry light to a dark world. As ambassadors, we carry the name of Jesus to people who don't know him. We we represent him. We are the love army. Paul says in the chapter we're looking at last week, so we are Christ's ambassadors. God is making his appeal through us. That's what an ambassador is. But here's the thing, we're not just ambassadors in good times. Light comes out through the cracks. you're bumped in life, whatever was in you spills out. We're ambassadors in the tough times too. In fact, it's often when we're in the tough times that God can make his appeal through us even louder.”

#RelyOnJesus
“This isn't a stiff stiff upper lip bracing ourselves, holding on for dear life until we're on the other side type of survival. It's not suffering our way to success. This is about us admitting that we can't do it. We don't have what it takes. And so, inviting God to come and be with us in the setbacks, to strengthen us, to hold us, and shine through us in the setbacks. For him to strengthen us in a way where we can't even take the credit, I don't know why I'm still standing, except for Jesus.”

#FaithBeyondSuccess
“Have you ever felt like that? Have you ever felt like that? Like, you've done everything right and you're still facing setbacks like, hello? What's going on? I pray, read my bible, I give to the church, and my kids are still living in the basement. I serve every weekend, and I can't find a job or get permanent resident status. My whole community group has been praying for my healing for months and it's getting worse. we're uncovering here is that natural human tendency to think, God loves winners. Because we love winners. So, if we love winners, God must love winners. Right? And that's the view of the super apostles. They think winners are connected to God. But Paul sees things differently. So, you have two different ways to see setbacks.”
