“You and I are meant and destined to live a different life. And to the world, it's a peculiar life. It's like, well, what why aren't you worried? Why aren't you stressed out about this? Well, because I know who I know. And I know what I know. I know what he tells me. I know what he's shown me. I know in whom I have believed.”
“Because of what Christ has done, we've been designed to show forth his praises. One translation says his excellencies. You and I are meant to be an excellency displayer, a demonstrator of the excellencies of the Lord.”
“He's called us to be different. The word says he's called us out of being led by dark light and into his marvelous light. Isn't that awesome, man? When you sit around the word, you can't stay unhappy for long.”
“You and I, the word says, have been called out of something. We've been called out of this world. He says, "I'm not taking you out of this world. You're in this world, but you're not of this world. You're not to take your cues and your identity from this world. Instead, you ought to tell this world who I am. You ought to show this world who I am."”
“Consecration is much more than going to church, keeping the Ten Commandments, tithing, sharing your faith, repeating the Lord's Prayer, volunteering for a ministry, raising your hands in worship, going on a mission trip. All those are good things, but they're not consecration.”
“Set apart for the exclusive use of God. They were devoted to his service. They weren't to be used for doing other things. The utensils weren't be to to be used to just making your, you know, Wednesday night stew. They were used to handle the very precious and holy things of the Lord.”
“Consecration, set apart for a sacred purpose, inducted into a permanent office. You know, you're inducted into a permanent office. If you've received Christ in your heart, you are a new creature creature creation. And God doesn't Oops. Oh, we better revert back. No, the word says you are a new creation.”
“So he says uh uh consecration is dethroning yourself from being the Lord of your life and enthroning Christ as the Lord of your life. It's a uh it's to divest ourselves of self-interest. That's to set ourselves apart. That's to consecrate ourselves. That's to say, Lord, not my will, but your will be done.”
“Romans 8:30, the word says, "And so those whom God set apart, he called." Isn't that cool? those whom God set apart, he called. And I thought that's really interesting because that means that word or that phrase there in Romans in Greek means to pre-establish boundaries. To pre-establish boundaries, that word set apart or that phrase set apart.”
“And those he called he put right with himself. and he shared his glory. Or one translation says he made them glorious with his glory. And I I like this translation because it's interesting. He says, "And he shared his glory with them." And I thought, "Wait a minute." In Isaiah 42:8, God says, "I am the Lord. That is my name. And my glory I will not give to another, neither my praise to graven images."”
“Just like the word says when Christ was obedient to the father, the word says that he was glorified by the father, you and I, when we consecrate ourselves, when we're obedient to the Lord, the word says his glory is seen through our lives. That's the only way that the glory of God is seen through our lives. when we are set apart for his service.”
“Why? Because they allowed themselves to be set apart for the work that he had called them to do. That's a power in being set apart because we're set apart not just to be alone. We're not set apart just to be weird. We're set apart for a purpose and that purpose is the work that he's called us to do.”
“Release the former things, he's saying, so you can press on toward the goal. And that prize that you're reaching on towards is the call of God. the upward call of God. Romans 1:1, Paul says he was a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle. And then in verse six, he says, "Among whom you are also called of Christ Jesus."”
“It means, what does it mean? It means the opposite of what the world will tell you. The world tells you you are an accident. The world tells you, well, one day you just were born and one day you're just going to die. And whatever happens in the middle, well, you got to like it or lump it. But the word of God says you are not an accident.”
“And so being consecrated or choosing to set yourself apart is choosing to give God first place in every area of your life. So releasing the man I had three points and that's only one. But releasing our reliance, who is our source? Is it God? If it is, great. Awesome.”
“Because of what Christ has done, we've been designed to show forth his praises. One translation says his excellencies. You and I are meant to be an excellency displayer, a demonstrator of the excellencies of the Lord. He's called us to be different. The word says he's called us out of being led by dark light and into his marvelous light.”
