#FirmInChrist
“``Now, many of us are firm in other things, firmer than we are in spiritual things. We're firm in our comfort. We're firm in the way things have been done. You know, the moment somebody changes something, don't like change. We're firm in our politics and our opinions, I think those are cemented sometimes, but we're not firm in Christ. We're shaky with scripture. We don't know his word. We're shaky with devotion. We're shaky with holiness. If our footing in Christ is not secure, here's what happens. When the political, when the relational or emotional or medical storm hits, and it will hit, we will fall with the storm. We'll lose faith. We'll be overcome by our emotions. We'll give up on God, maybe we'll even turn into greater sin. Jesus doesn't promise, if you catch that scripture in Matthew chapter seven, he doesn't promise that those who have a strong stance don't face storms. The storms will come, but the promise is made that those who put his words into practice, they will be shaken, but they won't fall.”

#LiveTheSermon
“The Sermon on the Mount is not just a sermon that we listen to, And this is my hope as we begin this journey, is it just doesn't become a good Sunday morning teaching and a good series, but it becomes a life that we practice. Like, actually take up the challenge to put these words into practice. Like, we we heed the invitation. On both ends, there's there's there's bookends on the Sermon on the Mount. He begins with repent, change, direction, follow me because the kingdom is near, and he ends with, put my words into practice, you'll be wise. Storms will hit, it's gonna hit, but you'll have a strong stance. You'll have a firm foundation. May we be people who actually put into practice the teachings of Jesus, not just listen to a pastor talk about it and nod our heads and say, that's good. Good job. But actually put in the work practicing the way of Jesus.”

#BuildOnJesus
“So the question before us is not, do I know what Jesus taught? It's am I building a life on what Jesus taught? And that's every day. It's an everyday practice. So before we jump into, we're not doing it today, but the numb number of weeks ahead of us about forgiveness and anger and prayer and generosity and holiness, we have to ask the question, have I truly accepted his invitation? Have I repented? Have I turned? Am I am I turning from my way and following his way? And if you're leaning on a 30 year old, I'm speaking to those of you who've been around for a while, I guess, a 30 year old moment at an altar. I did it then and not a daily turning from and turning to, and maybe it's time we ask that question again.”

#BeDoersNotHearers
“Christians have a habit of thinking about things but not doing things. We like to think and we like to talk and we like to study and we like to learn. But as James says, the half brother of Jesus, don't be hearers of the word and so deceive yourselves, be doers of the word. We actually deceive ourselves when we only hear the word and not practice it. We're deceived. By who? By ourselves. So deceive yourselves. Jesus begins his ministry with an invitation to change the way in which we live. Repent, he says, and he gives the reason why. He says, the kingdom of heaven is at hand. The kingdom of heaven has come near. The kingdom of God is here. If you go to Mark's gospel, he actually says the the fulfillment of time has arrived.”
