“``Redemption is immediate. They are saved, but sanctification is long. Israel is redeemed in one night as they are free, but the journey takes forty years. Sometimes we confuse these. Salvation happens instantly. Christ died on the cross and you are saved, But formation takes a lifetime. So be kind to yourself as each step you go through, as the path looks really weird and does not make sense. Trust. This is the best way, and God is your shepherd leading you along it.”

“Jesus walked through this long way round. Instead of establishing his kingdom through immediate victory, he walks the road of rejection, suffering, the cross, the grave, and resurrection. From Good Friday, it looked like a dead end. It looked like they were at the sea feeling useless. They were depressed in that upper room. They were not okay when they felt that loneliness even after Christ showed who he was. From Good Friday to what looked like a dead end, from Easter, we see it was always the path of redemption. The cross reminds us that God's longest road can become the world's greatest salvation.”

“Faith leads by formation, not mere destination. So God led the people around. In the Hebrew, this word is sabab, means to turn around, to circle, to go around, to take a detour. It is not accidental wandering. It is intentional rerouting. God is not lost. Israel is being led. This word appears elsewhere when God deliberately changes the course of armies. It suggests a strategic movement. God isn't delaying. God is positioning.”
50s
“God avoids one battle only to lead Israel through the Red Sea. From Israel's perspective, mountains beside them, sea ahead of them, Egypt behind them, the shortest road disappeared, and now there appears to be no road at all. Nothing but sea. expectations of what the journey would be like is overturned. Israel avoids the Philistines only to face pharaoh. God exchanged one impossible situation for another except this one will reveal his glory. God leads us to a place where our own strength becomes completely useless because only then do we discover God's strength.”
