#SpiritAsGuide
“God knows that this isn't easy or obvious because so much of this does start to push against some of our own instincts. And so this is where God says, I'm actually gonna give you my spirit as a guide and as advocate and as a helper. And I love that he uses all of those different words in Arabic that come back to us. He says, I'm gonna give you a guide, a helper, an advocate, a counselor who is gonna help you discover and discern and understand all of these things. And so, if we're gonna think of scripture as learning the language of God, then I want to say this this way, to follow Jesus is to get to know his voice through the spirit who is at work in us.”

#ScriptureToKnowGod
“But I want you to see this bigger picture where Paul is saying, I need you to understand this whole story that has changed you. The faith that you've been convinced of in Jesus, that's the lens through which I want you to understand all that you have been given. And and this is so important and so helpful that we hear all of scripture understanding that it's through this lens of Jesus and the desire for God to know us and be known by us. If God just wanted to give us a rule book, then we wouldn't have to know him. And all of this scripture is so that we could know him and be known by him.”

#ScriptureAndSpirit
“there was a specific reason that I wanted to put them together, and it's because I think that if we separate these two, we are super likely to misread the signs. But if we can put together what God gives us in scripture and what God gives us of himself that Jesus outlined when he said, I'm gonna give you my spirit so you can hear from me, then together we can start to understand what God is trying to say to us. Okay? To say that a little bit differently, the spirit moves in us in accordance with scripture. As we start to learn to hear the spirit's voice, we're gonna talk about that today. It's never going to be out of line or out of sync with what we read in scripture. And also, our ability to read and understand scripture means we need help. And God says, wanna guide you in this. I wanna help you understand this. And the primary way I'm gonna do that is through my spirit who is in you.”

#ParentingWithSpirit
“Parents, listen to me. Some of it, we need that. I I believe the Holy Spirit can guide you in that. You're not alone in this parenting journey. But God speaks to us. But if we're going to start to hear it, we have to lean into scripture to start to learn the language of God. And then we have to trust in the power of the Holy Spirit who Jesus says, I will give you to help you understand and to help you let me be in all of these moments of your life. This is how we invite God in. This is how we start saying, God, if I'm gonna get guidance anywhere, I wanna get it from you. Help me hear your voice.”
