Scripture Over Culture | Christianity Back to the Way Pt 8

Paul tells Timothy to continue in what he has learned, because the same sacred Scriptures that made him wise unto salvation are the same Scriptures that will keep him standing when evil people and impostors get worse. Scripture is not one opinion beside culture. Scripture is God breathed, profitable, and able to teach, rebuke, correct, and train in righteousness until the man of God is complete and equipped for every good work.

Sola scriptura means God has already given everything necessary for salvation through Scripture alone. The Bible does not need upgrades, extra downloads, or another source of authority to make God clearer. God said what He said through the 66 books, and His Word is sufficient, infallible, and without error.

The Word matters because every attack of the enemy aims at the Word. Psalm 119 says the Word is hidden in the heart so sin does not rule there, and the Word is a lamp to the feet when life gets dark. Hebrews says the Word is sharper than a two edged sword, cutting into thoughts, intentions, and even unhealthy soul ties. Scripture is not just comfort. Scripture is surgery.

The Passover lamb shows that God does not call His people to take only the blood and leave the lamb untouched. The whole lamb had to be consumed. In the same way, the whole Word must be eaten, not just the parts that shout, promise, bless, and feel good. The correcting, convicting, and disciplining parts are also part of the meal.

Jesus Himself, the Word made flesh, used the Word when Satan tempted Him. The Word used the Word, saying, “It is written.” If Christ answered temptation with Scripture, then the believer has no business trying to fight culture, flesh, and the devil with philosophy, clapbacks, or clever talk.

Culture twists Scripture to fit personal agendas, but Scripture confronts culture and corrects worldly thinking. The Word tells the church to love enemies, not shine on haters. The Word rebukes gossip, exposes wrong motives, and trains righteous living. The Spirit’s ultimate assignment is not just shouting or tongues, but transformation into Christlikeness.

The gospel remains the heart of the whole Bible. The virgin birth, sinless life, death, resurrection, ascension, and return of Christ still save. Jesus without surrender is not the gospel, and grace without transformation is not the way. The Word must remain the clean food that keeps the church rooted, healthy, and grounded in truth.
