“Stop carrying it. You know? Let it go. And this is why Jesus is so important because the goat, k, is just the shadow of the substance, which is Jesus. The goat carries symbols. That's that's what we see in the Old Testament sacrificial system. We see symbols that point to the real sacrifice, which would be Jesus, who came in the fullness of time at just the right time to do exactly what was needed for all time. K? The goat went into the wilderness. Jesus goes to the cross. The goat came back every year. Jesus is the one, and I cannot wait to preach this sermon on Palm Sunday. It is finished. And the book of Hebrews would tell us once and for all, he died. K? The just for the unjust. Man.”

“I want you to think about this. The scapegoat wasn't about cruelty. It is about God's compassion. God was not punishing an animal to make a point. God is instead painting a picture, a picture of a savior who would one day carry what we cannot carry. K? Sin is heavy, but Jesus carries it away. I want you to start thinking, man, my sin is serious. All of it. Big, small, all of it is serious. But my savior is stronger. He's bigger. He's better. I want you to start thinking about what that cross means and what Jesus has done. K?”
