Isaiah’s cry to return to “the law and the testimony” echoes today for those tempted to seek stability elsewhere. Just as roots sustain fruit, so God’s Word sustains those who dig deep into its soil. Without this grounding, even the most accomplished lives remain shrouded in darkness. True light—and life—comes only through alignment with God’s revealed truth. [59:40]

Isaiah’s cry, “To the law and to the testimony,” comes into a moment of chaos, fear, and confusion. Israel ran to mediums, fortune tellers, and voices that could scratch itching ears, but Isaiah called the nation back to the Word of God. The Word gives light, and without speaking according to that Word, education, wealth, political influence, family pedigree, and social-media status cannot give a person light.

The fruit of the Spirit cannot hang in midair. Fruit comes because there is a root, a stem, and branches. Christlike character, mental health, stability, and a life that stands all require a believer to be rooted in the Word. Jesus places two builders under the same rain, the same flood, and the same wind. The wise man hears Christ’s words and does them; the foolish man hears and does nothing.
