"when you go home tonight now and you get frustrated with your slowness of sanctification well good but don't despair rather look beneath the feet of your struggle and look at this massive Rock of the sanctification of Jesus on your behalf he's Paid a Debt to welcome sinners home if they have trust in him their salvation is complete as it were" [00:00:08]

"what does this mean verse 19 on their behalf I sanctify myself that they might be Sanctified in Truth Now what is the sanctification of Jesus what do you think he's referring to here is that Progressive Holiness no he that he's never sinned there's no Progressive Holiness in Jesus what is this sanctification of the Son of God devoting himself to crucifixion to Devotion to God's will to to obedience" [00:01:10]

"sanctification is a battle a day by day striving for Holiness Hebrews 12:14 strive for the Holiness without which no one will see the Lord everybody in this room ought to be striving to enter by the narrow gate plucking out the eye if it should be a lustful eye as it were doing whatever you must do to avoid sin striving toward Perfection" [00:02:16]

"the foundation of our struggle and our battle in sanctification is a finished work of the sanctification of Jesus Christ Jesus Sanctified himself to the cross in order that we might fight with some measure of success and make it to Glory so if we go back here to to pour on Peter I love this guy Chapter 13 Verse 8 Jesus comes along" [00:03:08]

"what does Jesus prayer in in verse 15 imply about the security of the believer well just briefly on this I do not ask that you take them out of the world but that you keep them from the evil one what I mean by this question is simply it would be wrong to have an attitude towards eternal security which says there's no urgency in the fight of faith" [00:05:56]

"Jesus is saying father you go to work now and keep them secure keep them safe from the evil one because something's at stake here so all I want to bring out here is that while I believe the Gospel of John for example chapter 10 verse 29 says we are absolutely secure if we are of God and not of the world that security is of a living vibrating process" [00:06:49]

"what does it mean to keep them from the evil one what does he want to happen here keep them from the evil one let me ask you this what's the main thing that Satan wants to destroy in your life Faith that's right because if Faith goes everything else goes as well let me show you two texts just to to give some sense of biblical urgency" [00:07:43]

"be sober this is chapter 5 ver8 be sober Be watchful your adversary the devil prows around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour resist him firm in your faith knowing that the same experience of suffering is required of your Brotherhood now let's link up then hate from the world right here and the work of the evil one right here" [00:09:31]

"what Jesus is praying for is that when the evil one brings down hurt criticism persecution rejection upon the head of a disciple that what does this keep from me he just said I don't want you to keep them from this in other words keep them in the world I don't want you to take them out of the world that hates them but I want you to keep them from" [00:10:21]

"my understanding is from the successful effort of the evil one to to destroy them so I think what Jesus is praying is that our faith fail not that's exactly what he prayed for Peter in Luke 22:32 just before he denied the Lord three times Satan has demanded to have you that he might sift you like wheat but I have prayed for you that your faith fail not" [00:10:56]

"sanctify them in the truth your word here we are at the word again is truth I think the the idea of sanctification is the positive counterpart of keeping us from the evil one so you could say negatively keep the evil one from having success in my life and positively make me holy make me holy holy that's what sanctification means becoming holy like Jesus" [00:12:30]

"there's nothing more important in your life for being washed on on your feet or growing in sanctification than the word of God if you neglect the scriptures brothers and sisters day in and day out you are Sitting Duck for Satan the evil one because the way God answers the prayer of the Lord to protect you from the evil one is to use the truth in your mind and your heart" [00:13:15]
