Often, we allow the expectations of society or our own fears to dictate how far we can go. We build boxes around our potential based on what others say is possible for someone of our background. However, there is a greatness within you that transcends these communal notions and earthly boundaries. When you realize that your life is hidden with Christ, you understand that the sky is not even the limit. You are invited to come out of your box and spread your wings in His strength. [56:21]
I can do all things through him who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13 ESV)
Reflection: What is one specific "box" or limitation you have accepted about your future that you feel God is inviting you to step out of today?
It is easy to fall into the trap of thinking that God has favorites or that He loves certain leaders more than He loves you. You might feel that you are at a lower level and must work your way up to reach His presence. But the truth is that God is not a respecter of persons; He has placed you to sit together with Him in heavenly places. His love for you is just as deep and personal as it is for anyone else in the body of Christ. You do not need a mediator to access the heart of your Father. [01:11:40]
And raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:6 ESV)
Reflection: In what ways have you been comparing your spiritual journey to others, and how might acknowledging your seat beside Christ change your perspective this week?
Many people are eager to bear fruit and show greatness to the world before they have established a firm foundation. Just like a building that collapses because it was not planned for the weight of its floors, a life without deep roots cannot sustain outward success. Your primary concern should be your firmness in the knowledge of God rather than just your visible progress. Depth is what keeps you standing when the storms of life begin to blow against you. By being rooted in Christ, you ensure that your foundation can hold the greatness He is bringing forth. [01:15:24]
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. (Colossians 2:6-7 ESV)
Reflection: When you look at your spiritual life, are you spending more energy on "bearing fruit" for others to see or on "digging deeper" into the Word and prayer?
You received Christ Jesus as a free gift, not because of your own works or efforts. The faith required to even accept Him was gifted to you so that no one could boast in their own strength. In the same way that you started this journey by grace, you are called to continue walking in Him with that same reliance. Being rooted is not a complicated task of human effort, but a natural result of staying planted in the conducive environment of His presence. Your growth remains a work of the Spirit from the beginning to the end. [01:17:58]
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV)
Reflection: Is there an area of your life where you have stopped relying on God's grace and started trying to "work" for His approval?
Storms and rain do not make a structure strong; they simply expose the integrity of the foundation that was already there. When challenges arise, they reveal whether your roots are shallow or deep in the person of Jesus. You do not need to celebrate the trouble itself, but you can be confident that your security is guaranteed because of where you are placed. Instead of waiting for problems to build your character, you are invited to put on the whole armor of God now. When the winds blow, you will remain standing because you were strong in Him from the start. [01:24:52]
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. (Ephesians 6:13 ESV)
Reflection: Think of a current challenge you are facing; how can you shift your focus from the "storm" to the "integrity" of your foundation in Christ today?
Believers are urged to cast off the self-imposed boxes that keep potential small and to recognize that true capacity flows from union with Christ. The life of faith is presented not as an abstract force but as a living Person—Christ—who enables believers to do greatly and abundantly beyond imagined limits. Being “in Christ” is described as a superior environment that guarantees security and possibility; placement with Christ is the believer’s firm ground, not social standing or performance. Growth after being planted in Christ requires a conducive environment: roots must dig deep to support the visible fruit and the height of one’s life.
Depth matters more than outward ascent. Many rush toward visible success while neglecting root growth, producing a precarious upward trajectory that collapses under storm conditions. Using the image of trees and foundations, the argument shows that weak roots cannot sustain added weight or unexpected trials; foundations determine destiny. Scripture (Colossians 2:6–7) frames this dynamic: reception of Christ is the planting, and walking in him is the ongoing rooting and building up. Rooting is both positional—being planted in Christ—and experiential—growing deeper through knowledge, thanksgiving, and firm conviction of where God has placed the believer.
Trials do not make strength; they reveal the integrity of present strength. The call is practical: cultivate firmness in the knowledge of God, stand on the solid rock, speak life into circumstances from the assurance of Christ, and refuse the lie that spiritual stature depends on others’ experiences. Security is a theological reality grounded in Christ’s placement, not a response manufactured by circumstances. Therefore, prepare by putting on spiritual armor and nurture roots so that when winds blow the believer will stand—not because storms are absent, but because the foundation holds.
On Sunday, I gave an example of a building that, I don't know if it is three weeks or so, that has been making news. Was it in Nairobi or somewhere? It was originally planned for 12 floors and they added after construction had started, meaning the foundation which in this case are the roots were not planned to hold those many floors. So the floors did not, the building did not break down because the materials they were using to build were bad. But the foundation could not hold the greatness that was showing up in the floors.

When you came to Christ or rather when you received Christ, you got planted into Christ, the same way you plant your tree. Now when you got planted into Christ, you were given the same way you plant your tree or your whatever your food, it is to provide it with the conducive environment for growth.
