#PridePrecedesFall
“``Because pride is where everything begins to fall apart. We start to feel so good about ourselves. I'm good. I'm good. I'm good. In the depths of our despair, we cry out to the Lord. He hears our cry, and he takes and he sets us upon a firm foundation. And then what do we do? I'm good. And we take our eyes off of God. In the midst of those struggles in life, those moments when it feels like there's no hope, when it feels like despair is right there for all of us, man, everybody's praying. Everybody's seeking the lord their god. And then once everything's good, what do we do? I got this. Think about how diabolical that thought really actually is, and then think about how often we do that.”

#SoberJudgmentFaith
“If don't think of myself too high, then how highly should I actually think of myself? And he gives us an answer. But rather think of yourself with sober judgment, recognizing that I deserve death except in accordance with the measure of faith God has given to you. So that sober judgment is this recognition that I am a depraved and fleshly sinful creature, but by faith through grace, I am saved.”

#FaithLeadsToService
“If I have more faith, then I will think less of myself and more of others. Think about that. When I have more faith, I actually think less of myself and more of serving others. How important is that? Because serving others is really what matters. We can build ourselves up and have all the stuff that we desire, but isn't it about just serving?”

#ReconcileAsFamily
“If there's an issue with somebody in the body, you go to them and you make it right. Why? Because that's what brothers and sisters do. And so we think about this body, this body of believers moving in the same direction. Each person fulfilling the function that God has called them to, that we are renewing of our minds and becoming a sacrificial offering every day with our worship and the way we live our lives as a body of believers shaped by God to go into the world to declare his good news.”

#GraceGiftsNotComparison
“God has actually equipped us with certain gifts so that we can be used as to function within the body of believers according to the grace that has been given to us. Remember, God is forming us and shaping us. God's grace shapes every part of us. Not that we think too much of ourselves, but rather it's in line with the faith that we have in Jesus. And every single one of us has a function within the body of Christ, and that function is given to us based on God's grace. So we can't look at others and say, well, I wish I had what they have. I wish I could do more of that. I wish I was better at that. That's that's not how God gifted you. Stop that.”

#BelongAndForgive
“And I'll close with this. One thing really cool about the body is it always moves in the same direction. It doesn't go rogue from itself. It always goes in the same directions, and that comes from us building relationships with one another. At the outset of this text, it talks about how we belong to each other. We do, and that's a relationship that is formed. And if we've wronged each other, we go and we make it right. We say I blew it. Forgive me. And we forgive as God has forgiven us Because that's what brothers and sisters do.”

#ServeWithCompassion
“I wonder when a waitress or a waiter comes up to wait on you. Do you actually ask them about their day? Do actually see them as people, or are they just servants for your meal? I pray it's not just that they're servants for your meal because these are people who are serving, and this is how many of them make their livelihood. And isn't it great just to say, tell me about yourself. What's going on? How's your day? Tell me about what's going on in your world. How can I be praying for you? You see, that's the measure of our faith.”

#EveryPieceMatters
“I hope you can see from that illustration significance of each piece. And I don't care if you're a border piece or if you're in the middle. Each piece is significant and important to the full puzzle. If God's grace shapes us and we're reminded that we are saved by grace through faith and we are new creations in Christ Jesus, he says, listen. Don't think too haughtily of yourself. Don't think too high of yourself. And then he begins this illustration of listen. Every piece is important to the function of the body.”
