#SavedByFaithInChrist
“``The cross wasn't simply merely a way over the roadblock. At the cross, Jesus dealt completely with that roadblock that we could never remove. See, salvation doesn't come from trying harder, becoming more religious, cleaning up your life, or promising God that you'll do better. Salvation comes from repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone. And to repent means you turn from your sin. You surrender your life to the rule of Christ Jesus. And what that means is that you stop trusting in your own goodness. You place your confidence in Jesus and what he has done on the cross. See, you're not saved because your faith is impressive. You're saved because the savior in whom you place your faith is sufficient.”

#DeathDefeatedInChrist
“See, Jesus loved perfectly. He he spoke perfectly. He thought perfectly, and he acted perfectly. He met God's standard consistently. And then the sinless Christ died in the place of sinful people. And at the cross, God did not ignore sin. He didn't excuse sin. He did not drive around it. Jesus bore the judgment. He paid the price of redemption. He satisfied divine justice and he took upon himself the judgment and the punishment that we all deserved. The perfect dying for the imperfect, the righteous for the unrighteous, and the innocent dying for the guilty. But on the third day, Jesus rose from the grave. And his resurrection declared that sin had been answered, death had been defeated, and the saving work of Christ was complete.”

#JustifiedByGrace
“Paul says that believers are justified, which means that God declares the guilty righteous. God declares guilty sinners righteous. Not because the sinner has become good enough, but because Jesus Christ has provided the righteousness that sinners could never produce. Justification is not a reward that we earn. It is by his grace as a gift. Grace means that God gives us what we could never deserve, we could never earn, we could never pay back. Religion tells us do enough and perhaps you can reach God. Here's what the gospel says, God came to rescue sinners who could never reach him. And listen,”

#NoRouteAroundJesus
“That means we cannot remove this roadblock through technology, through politics, through money, through religion, through self improvement, through recovery or determination. All of those things may be good, and and they may produce genuine benefits, but none of them can justify a guilty sinner before a holy God. A person can become sober and still need salvation. A person can become successful and still need salvation. A person can even become religious and still need salvation. A person can improve his behavior and still need a new heart. We cannot ignore this roadblock. We can't climb over it. We can't drive around it, and we cannot remove it ourselves. We need to own sin as a personal problem.”
