46s
“If you're trying to play it safe, you're not doing what you've been asked. I want you to hear me on this. What you have been asked to do with what you have been given will always lead to risk. But scripture says, it's always gonna be found in reward. You cannot sow into this and it not reap a harvest. That's one of the biblical understandings that we live with. That's a beautiful thing. He's already got the system set up for you. If you sow, guess what's gonna happen? You're gonna reap. There is no way you sow and you don't reap.”

“As believers, all of us have responsibility. All of us have talents. All of us have gifts. These are not your talents and your gifts that you get to do with whatever you want to do. Jesus clarifies something here. Here's what he says, I've given them and I will give an account for them. Now, this is powerful in kingdom thinking. Because essentially what he's telling us is this, your time, your talents, your efforts, your responsibilities, what you do, he will call back into question.”

“Before Jesus walks into Jerusalem, before we move into this space where they cry Hosanna and King of Kings and Lord of Lords to next week. They lay down palm branches on the ground as he walks into town. He fulfills prophecy in this moment. Before we get to that moment, he gives them this conversation. He lets them know the kingdom of God is not gonna happen right now, right away. But what is going to happen right now, right away is this. You're gonna be given responsibilities. Steward your responsibilities well. Steward your family well. Steward your home well. Steward your community well. Steward your city well.”
43s
“You exist in one of two kingdoms. One kingdom you exist in, Satan's domain, the flesh. Man, you are a servant to sin, you are a servant to rebellion, you are a servant to your own desires, you are a servant to your own wishes, you are a servant to your own ways and here's what is inside of that. Destruction exists inside of that. Or, you are a servant inside of the kingdom of God. And here's what we find about scripture saying to us. If you are a servant in the kingdom of God, that's where true freedom begins to be found.”
42s
“Part of my responsibility is to make sure that you understand you have a responsibility to steward well. If you ignore it, that's on you. If you follow it, more is given to you. When more is given to you and you use that more well, you get more. I'm looking forward to the day when we walk into church and we're all walking in going, man, the Lord just keeps pouring opportunities and responsibilities on me. Because you know what that means? You're using it well. He's gonna keep giving you more. He's gonna keep overflowing your bucket with opportunities.”

“What we see in Luke 19 is this, that delegation got to that servant. And that, because that delegation got to that servant, they got that servant to believe something that caused that servant to stop doing what the nobleman had asked him to do. Have you listened to the world to the point where you stopped doing what Jesus has asked you to do? That's what happens here. So, this servant comes in and says, here you can have it back. I didn't do anything with it. I didn't lose it. I didn't gain anything from it. I'm just giving it back to you.”
41s
“Now here's what doesn't happen with the servants. They do not take this money and go out and do whatever they want to with. You don't see any of these servants going sweet, I'm a go buy me a new donkey. You don't see any of these servants going awesome, I just set up my retirement and I am set. Here's what you see the servants doing. All of the servants understand this. This money, this that has been entrusted to me does not belong to me. I only get to steward it. This is a stewardship conversation.”
38s
“For some believers in the room, that is a great moment. For other people in the room, it's a terrifying moment. But as we look at this parable that he gives them, essentially here's what he sets up with them. He sets up with them a very important part. Jesus was going to go away to receive a kingship. When he returns, he would establish his kingdom. Then, the followers are expected to fulfill the responsibilities given to them. On his return, he would reward the faithful for their service and his enemies would be judged before him.”
