Reviving Hearts: The Power of Prayer and Reflection
Summary
In my sermon, I emphasized the importance of prayer and humility in our Christian walk, drawing from the verse 2 Chronicles 7:14. I challenged the congregation to memorize this verse as it encapsulates what God calls us to do as Christians. I highlighted the current state of our society, emphasizing that regardless of who we elect as leaders, if God's people do not humble themselves and pray, the healing we seek will not come. I pointed out the contradiction in our faith when we claim to desire God's power but are unwilling to pray in obedience to Him.
In the second part of my sermon, I discussed the need for a spiritual awakening, not just in our country, but starting with us as individuals. I stressed the importance of self-reflection and focusing on the Word of God rather than being consumed by the sinful acts we see in the world. I used the example of Hezekiah from the Bible, who led a spiritual awakening by first cleansing and consecrating the temple. I reminded the congregation that we are the temple of God and we need to allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives. I concluded by emphasizing that all revivals, whether in scripture or throughout history, always begin with prayer.

Devotional
Day 1: Humility and Prayer for Healing
God calls us to humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways. This is the path to forgiveness and healing for our land. It's a call to action for Christians to actively participate in the healing process through prayer and obedience ([42:22]).
2 Chronicles 7:14 - "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
Reflection: How can you incorporate humility and prayer into your daily life to contribute to the healing of our land?
Day 2: Self-Reflection through God's Word
The Word of God is a mirror for self-reflection. It reveals our blemishes that do not align with God's Word. This self-reflection allows the Light of Christ to shine into the darkest areas of our lives, leading to personal revival ([29:59]).
James 1:23-24 - "Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like."
Reflection: What blemishes has the Word of God revealed in your life and how can you address them?
Day 3: The Power of Prayer
God, in His sovereignty, has chosen prayer as a powerful means for us to interact with Him and effectively change the course of history. Through prayer, we can shape history for the glory, honor, and praise of His name ([50:27]).
Acts 16:25-26 - "About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose."
Reflection: How can you use prayer to influence the course of history in your sphere of influence?
Day 4: Focusing on the King of Kings
We must shift our focus from worldly matters to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. This focus on God allows us to see the true reflection of ourselves and spring into action ([31:50]).
Hebrews 12:2 - "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
Reflection: How can you shift your focus from worldly matters to God in your daily life?
Day 5: Consecration and Cleansing
Spiritual awakening begins with consecration and cleansing. We must ask for forgiveness of our sins and be willing to be set apart for God. This requires us to open our hearts to the Holy Spirit and close it to the world's propaganda ([32:31]).
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 - "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies."
Reflection: How can you consecrate and cleanse yourself for God's service?
Quotes
1. "The word of God is a mirror and it is there for reflection. When we look intently into the word of God, we see ourselves and often times we see the blemishes that do not align with the word of God. Before there can be a national Revival out there, there's got to be one in here and I'm telling you before one can take place in here it's got to take place in here." - 29:35
2. "A Spiritual Awakening begins when we take our Focus off of the world and place our focus on the word. We've got to get it off of Fox News, we got to get it off of all of those commentators that tell us just how bad things are. We've got to get it off the fake news and all the media." - 31:12
3. "2 Chronicles 7:14 - If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their Wicked Ways then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and I will heal their land. We are living in such a Brokenness in the society in the world right now that it is sick and it needs to be healed." - 41:44
4. "Ministry doesn't just take place inside of here, the true church goes out and does the work. It's a new day for her, she drew a line in the dirt and said she wants to be the Christian God's called her to be." - 25:38
5. "A man who seeks God In Prayer is a man who's seeking the heart of God. Through your prayer, your humble prayers, we have been given an opportunity to change the course of our nation. Our prayers affect the way God responds and acts in our world. In his sovereignty, he is God and he has the authority to do what he wants to do but scripture tells us that when we pray things change." - 43:57
