44s
“``If we are not the people of love, we are not the people of God. If we are not standing up and glowing with our love for people, then we are misrepresenting Christ. The compassion that he he demonstrated as he walked among the people of Judea and even Samaria and Galilee. He was the the embodiment of love. And if we are to be his disciples, we are to be that kind of person, that kind of people.”

“On 08/11/2024, I thought I was retiring. But church, for us there is no retirement. In our mission, in this mandate that Jesus has given us, we don't resign from that. We press on with that and the truth is the older we get the more equipped we are to do it. Now it's not always easy. I understand. You know the phrase I hear? But I'm just tired. I understand that. But let's make sure that that tired is just a physical thing and not a spiritual thing. Because if you're spiritually tired, you're dying. He has called us to be more active, to stand up, to do things that are very significant. He has called us to choose life and let God do what he can do with us right now.”
57s
“We are being challenged but even if we are getting old it is time for us perhaps to make one last surge and to renew our life in Christ and say my purpose is not dead. My body is tired but my purpose is alive. Maybe it is time for these congregations to have this new surge of purpose. That they will not go quietly into the night but they will instead stand up and be determined to be an example of this calling that God has given us. To be a demonstration of people who love God, who love other people, who make disciples and who demonstrate the wisdom of God.”
59s
“The church has the power of God. We are God's instrument in the world today and the church will not be defeated. is the promise of Christ I love the church and you do too There are some of you here that might be exploring what the churches of Christ are about. Let me just say to you, the things I'm saying here today are largely directed at the members of the churches of Christ. But I want to also tell you that I didn't grow up in that. You all know that.”
