#SpiritOverFear
“But Paul tells Timothy, he says, God has given us a spirit of power and of love and of sound mind. And so each of these three things by the Holy Spirit within us, it to the it answers the questions of fear, so of power. Instead of fear, God has given us power through His Spirit. And power, it answers the inadequacies that we carry with us. We feel so inadequate. Well, I can't do this or I can't do that or I'm not like that person over there or Jesus, your word says this and that is impossible for me to walk out. Right. It is. But with the spirit of God living within you, all things are possible. Right? And so because we have the Holy Spirit, we have power and that power overcomes any inadequacies that we might experience. God hasn't given us a spirit of fear but of power.”

#StirUpYourGift
“If God has called you here, if Westminster Calvary is your home church and this is where God has placed you, then you must understand that God has a plan and a purpose for you in this church. And that means that this church is a better place with you in it as long as you're surrendered to the will of God in your life. And therefore, stir up the gift that God has given you. Don't don't fade back on it. Press into it. Know that God wants to use you. Know that God is is is planning. Not only now, He has a plan for you and He is desiring to use you into the lives of the people of this church, but as we look into the future, God has great plans for you. God has great plans for this ministry in this community. So fan into flames. Fan into flames the gift and the calling that God has given you.”

#DontLoseYourCalling
“Because what happened or what could happen with Timothy in his situation is the the fire in the gifting which God has given. It can be dimmed because of discouragement, because of isolation, because of pressure, because of neglect. And Paul is writing to remind Timothy, to warn him. He says, Don't lose sight of this. Don't fade back off of what God has called you to. And that same emphasis, that same instruction, that same reminder, we can take and we can apply it to our lives here today, where God is reminding encouraging us that if you're a believer, if you're a follower of Jesus Christ, then you have a calling, you have a special gifting that you this is if Westminster Calvary is your home church, Pastor Pastor Jeff has taught us that you add something to this ministry that would not be here if you weren't here otherwise.”

#SoundMindClarity
“And a sound mind. This was interesting because you might have in your translation maybe self control. And what it is talking about is not necessarily talking about the fruit of the spirit of self control. It's talking about a sound mind, meaning being able to see a situation accurately. Not necessarily not just disciplined thinking but being able to stay sound, right? When fear comes in and our perception is distorted, we act irrationally and it's catastrophically and we make these decisions out of things that aren't really even there, but our perception is skewed. And so a sound mind helps us to see the situation accurately so that we can act rightly and we can be spirit led instead of reacting out of panic. Okay? So a sound mind helps with the perception.”
