Revival Sunday with Pastor Joseph Wells

The gaslight picture opens the whole thing with a plain warning: a car can run and run, but if it never gets filled back up, it is going to hit empty. The constant pouring into family, church, and everybody else’s problems can drain strength, and God is not trying to leave anybody stranded on empty. God wants to ignite something in a person so He can overflow something through that person. Burnout, frustration, bills, politics, and pressure all become signs that the real issue is not Democrat or Republican, job or paycheck, but relationship with God.

Moses stands as the witness. Moses is not in a palace anymore; Moses is in the wilderness watching sheep. Moses had dreams, position, and plans, but life happened, disappointment happened, and routine took over. The burning bush shows that God can light a person again right in the wilderness, not after life gets pretty. Worship cannot be a Sunday-only thing, because a dry Christian will always complain and a lit Christian will always praise.

God remains the source, so a person can burn without burning out. God keeps filling when jobs close, people talk, church folk block, and family drains. David’s cry, “Restore unto me the joy,” becomes the cry for fresh fire: God, light it again. The Holy Ghost is the one keeping minds together, mouths shut, hearts steady, and faith from quitting.

The cup and saucer picture presses the point deeper. Salvation and the Holy Ghost are not meant to stay locked inside like a stingy blessing. God fills until it runs over, and that overflow is for neighbors, children, coworkers, family, and lost people who need to see “a real man, and his name is Jesus.” Jesus came down not just for one person to benefit, but so saved people would tell the goodness of God and stop being afraid of their story.

The chipped cup says perfection is not the requirement. God fills cracked, broken, messed-up people, because only God is perfect. The story of the righteous man who lost job, health, car, and house shows a praise that says, “God just being God.” The favor of God does not mean life will not happen; the favor of God means a person moves different, walks like His favorite, and carries an anointing that changes the atmosphere.
