1. "I've mentioned on more than one occasion that you should never believe something that somebody said simply because they said it from a position, a certain position, but that you should believe something because you read it, you prayed about it, and you know it to be the true word of God." 2. "Nowhere in scripture, does Jesus ever tell us that someone or something is more important than himself? That some task is more important than himself? In fact, Jesus says the complete opposite. In Matthew chapter 19, verse 21, Jesus said to said to him, go sell your belongings and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven. And then come follow me. Jesus is saying, sell everything that you have. Put me first. Make me the most important part." [37:19] (32 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

3. "The principle of what Jesus is saying is that he is priority number one every time. We never see a place in scripture where we should put something else. Above Jesus, not service, not works, not anything. So Jesus concludes his message when he spoke in this text. He says, Mary has made the right choice, not Martha." 4. "We must have a clear vision and a clear purpose and a clear focus for the future. Proverbs. Proverbs chapter 29, verse 18. And the King James says, where there is no vision, the people perish. So where there is no vision, people suffer. Where there is no vision, people struggle, struggle and falter. Where there is no vision, people fail to thrive." 5. "God had bestowed all of these character attributes upon Nehemiah in order to prepare him for this moment, for this purpose. God ordained, he maneuvered, he positioned, he worked in Nehemiah's life from birth until this day. From this point in order to get him right where he needed him in order to restore the city of Jerusalem. God was working behind the scenes to set the stage for this exact moment." 6. "We must keep in mind that you never know when or how God is using you. When or how God is working in your life to make something be what he wants it to be. God is prompting your actions, prompting your activities in order to accomplish his purpose." [58:41] (25 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

7. "If we don't seek the solution to a problem, some reason we think, oh, the problem will just solve itself. In our ignorance, our voluntary ignorance, we avoid obligation. If I never look in my backyard to see if it needs to be mowed, I never even look out the back window, then I don't know what the shape of my backyard is in. Therefore, I am not obligated to mow it." 8. "If Nehemiah had ignored the assessment, you know what he could have missed? He could have missed heartache and years of struggle. Because as we continue through the book of Nehemiah, you're going to find Nehemiah dealt with a lot. He goes back to the city. He tries to rebuild. He gets attacked. He gets verbally abused. He could have just said, you know what? I'm not going to worry about it. I'm going to let the city of Jerusalem be the city of Jerusalem. I'm going to stay here and I'm going to be okay." 9. "If he would have ignored the hurt, he would have missed the hand of God working in him. He would have missed the opportunity to minister to the people of Jerusalem. If Nehemiah had ignored the revelation and the assessment that he had received, he would have missed what God had planned for him in the city of Jerusalem. But he didn't ignore it. The news hurt him and he broke down in tears." [01:13:04] (25 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

10. "Nehemiah did nothing before going to God repeatedly for days and even weeks. Warren Wiersbe says, Too often we plan our projects and then we ask God to bless them. Nehemiah didn't make that mistake. He sat down and wept, he knelt down, he prayed, and then he stood up and got to work." [01:14:15] (25 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)
