Sermon Summary

Sermon Clips

The God we worship today in spirit and in truth was The God Who exercised this judgment that you have heard on the sons of Aaron. Let us be instructed by it. [00:38:31]

The Lord God who has established his throne in the heavens is a jealous God, and it's the same God who dictated to Moses and to Aaron how he is to be worshiped that we worship today, and he cares as much today that we not offer him profane worship than he did on that occasion in the history of Israel. [00:09:36]

We don't understand in the first instance what Dr. Lawson referred to yesterday as the godness of God, and next to that we don't understand and at all the sinfulness of sin, and it is these two problems that constantly provide a barrier to our understanding of the things of God. [00:12:40]

If you learn anything this week, learn to think about the godness of God and the sinfulness of sin. If you understand those two at all, then you understand why there had to be a cross and why there is a gospel. [00:52:06]

The story of Nadab and Abihu highlights the seriousness with which God views His holiness and the worship He receives. It serves as a reminder that approaching God requires reverence and obedience, recognizing His divine standards. [00:01:49]

Understanding the holiness of God and the sinfulness of sin is crucial for a proper relationship with Him. This understanding helps us appreciate the necessity of the cross and the grace offered through Jesus Christ. [00:13:09]

Our modern culture often blurs the lines between the sacred and the profane, leading to a diminished view of God's standards. We must strive to distinguish between what is holy and unholy in our lives and worship. [00:27:40]

All sin, regardless of its perceived magnitude, is a capital offense against God's holiness. This realization should lead us to a deeper appreciation of the grace and forgiveness offered through the gospel. [00:39:10]

Worship that honors God is not just about form but also about spirit and truth. Our actions and attitudes should reflect our reverence for Him, recognizing our need for His grace and the transformative power of the gospel. [00:50:37]

The incident underscores the necessity of distinguishing between the holy and the unholy, the clean and the unclean, in our worship and daily lives. [00:01:49]

As we reflect on this passage, let us be reminded of the importance of worship that honors God, not just in form but in spirit and truth. Let us strive to live lives that reflect His holiness, understanding that our actions and attitudes are a reflection of our reverence for Him. [00:50:37]

May we be ever mindful of the gravity of sin and the incredible gift of salvation offered through Jesus Christ. [00:50:37]
