Day 1: The Lamb’s Eyes Like Blazing Fire

John falls before the risen Jesus, whose gaze pierces pretense and whose voice shakes creation. This vision of Christ—alive, radiant, and holding the keys to death—reorients every fear. His fiery eyes see both our faltering love and our hidden faithfulness. The sword from his mouth cuts through falsehood, while his hand lifts the fallen. This is no abstract God, but the wounded victor who walks among lampstands. [15:48]

Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne. [...] He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. And they sang a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.” (Revelation 5:6,9 NIV)

Day 2: White Stones with New Names

Amid warnings to seven churches, Jesus offers secret promises to the faithful. A white stone with a hidden name waits for those who resist compromise. This intimate gift contrasts with public shame, a personal token from the one who knows our truest selves. The stone isn’t earned—it’s given to those clinging to the Lamb’s victory when everything screams to let go. [17:38]

To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it. (Revelation 2:17 NIV)

Day 3: Thunderous Pages and Sour Stomachs

John eats the scroll—sweet as honey in his mouth, bitter in his gut. Scripture nourishes even as it unsettles. The act mirrors our journey: God’s Word first delights, then disrupts, always transforming. Like John, we’re called to digest difficult truths until they become our prophecy to a numb world. [39:19]

I took the little scroll and ate it. It tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it, my stomach turned sour. Then I was told, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages and kings.” (Revelation 10:10-11 NIV)

Day 4: Unshut Gates in a Nightless City

The New Jerusalem’s gates never close. No fear of invaders, no need for sunlamps. This radical openness flows from the Lamb’s total victory. The healed nations walk freely in light that exposes yet doesn’t destroy. Every tear wiped, every curse lifted—a community where vulnerability becomes strength. [13:46]

On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it. (Revelation 21:25-26 NIV)

Day 5: The Spirit and Bride Say “Come!”

Revelation ends with a fourfold invitation—the Spirit, the Church, the hearers, and the thirsty all crying “Come!” This isn’t passive waiting, but active yearning. The water of life flows freely, yet must be taken. The Lamb’s return becomes our aching prayer, not just theological footnote. [17:20]

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life. (Revelation 22:17 NIV)

Sermon Summary

Revelation comes to the church not as a puzzle meant to stir up fear, anxiety, or endless predictions, but as the revelation of Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the risen King, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. The letter pushes past the lenses shaped by end-times books, false predictions, and popular speculation, calling God’s people to read the whole Bible through the lens of Jesus. Christ is the hero from Genesis to Revelation. Christ holds all things together, has overcome sin, death, evil, and the enemy, and will make all things new.

Revelation opens with the Son of Man walking among the lampstands, knowing the real condition of his churches. Jesus calls the loveless to return, the suffering to remain faithful, the compromised to repent, the spiritually dead to wake up, the weak to hold on, and the lukewarm to open the door. The Spirit keeps repeating, “Whoever has ears, let them hear,” because victory belongs not to those who figure out every symbol, but to those who remain faithful to Jesus.

Heaven’s throne room then puts everything in its right place. God sits on the throne. The elders fall down. Every creature worships. The Lion has triumphed, yet John sees a Lamb looking as though it had been slain. The Lamb alone is worthy to open the scroll because his blood has purchased people from every tribe, language, people, and nation. The prayers of God’s people rise before the throne, and the Lamb remains at the center even as seals, trumpets, bowls, beasts, dragons, Babylon, judgment, and suffering fill the vision.

The dragon wages war, the beast deceives, and Babylon intoxicates the nations with luxury, idolatry, violence, and false worship. Yet the Lamb overcomes. God’s people triumph “by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony,” refusing to love their lives more than faithfulness to Christ. The call is patient endurance, holiness, worship, and a refusal to take part in Babylon’s sins.

Revelation ends where hope has been pointing all along. Christ comes as King of kings and Lord of lords. Evil is judged, death and Hades are thrown down, and God makes a new heaven and a new earth. The New Jerusalem comes down like a bride. God dwells with his people. Every tear is wiped away. The Lamb becomes the city’s lamp, the river of life flows from the throne, and the tree of life brings healing to the nations. The final invitation remains wide open: “Let the one who is thirsty come” and receive the water of life without cost.
