The Transfiguration itself is a moment where the veil is lifted, and the disciples witness Jesus in His glory, alongside Moses and Elijah. This vision is a powerful affirmation of Jesus' divine sonship and His fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets. The voice from the cloud, declaring Jesus as the beloved Son, commands the disciples to listen to Him, emphasizing the importance of truly understanding and following Jesus. [00:40:42]

Misunderstandings about Jesus' identity are common, even among His closest followers. The Pharisees, Sadducees, and even the disciples struggled to grasp who Jesus truly was. This highlights the importance of seeking personal revelation and understanding of Jesus, rather than relying solely on external interpretations. [00:45:18]

True transformation comes from encountering Jesus as He truly is. This encounter changes our perceptions, priorities, and the way we live our lives. It invites us to let go of our expectations and be open to the transformative power of Jesus' presence. [00:59:09]

Jesus' invitation to follow Him is not about conforming to our expectations but about being transformed by His presence. This transformation is a journey of discovering who Jesus is and allowing that revelation to change us from the inside out. [01:01:38]

The presence of God is often experienced in "thin moments," where the veil between heaven and earth feels particularly thin. These moments, like the Transfiguration, are opportunities to encounter God's glory and be transformed by it. They remind us of the reality of God's presence in our lives. [00:54:00]

When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground terrified, but Jesus came and touched them. "Get up," he said. "Don't be afraid." When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus. As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, "Don't tell anyone what you have seen until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead." [00:41:31]

Jesus is seen for who he is. Blessed are you, Simon, again about identity, about understanding. The crowds weren't even sure who he was. Then it gets interesting after this. They go along a little further, and Jesus predicts his own death. He begins to talk in a way that he's never talked before, and they don't know what to think. [00:46:21]

The Transfiguration is a moment of glory when the door is open, and just for a second, you can see into the power of eternity. You ever have those moments? We call them thin moments. It's where the space between heaven and earth is very thin when you can feel the presence of God descend into a room or a space. [00:54:00]

Jesus' transformation transforms us. When we see him who he really is, we see all about him, we hear all about him, we're taught all about him, we're given information about him, but have you really met him? It changes everything. Everything is not the same. The colors are a little more vibrant, the world moves differently. [00:59:09]

When you meet with God, he ruins you for anything else. Jesus' transformation transforms us. When we see him who he really is, we see all about him, we hear all about him, we're taught all about him, we're given information about him, but have you really met him? It changes everything. [00:59:09]

Jesus reveals himself to us. When he shows himself to us, it changes everything. The world takes on a new view and a new purpose. Jesus transforming in front of the disciples transformed them. Jesus meeting with us in the brokenness of our life, in the high points of our vocation, wherever it is, when we meet him, when we really meet him, we discover much more than we imagine, and we're never the same. [01:01:38]

May God continue to ruin us for anything less than the presence of Jesus Christ among us. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, let's pray. Lord God, we pause before you to listen for your voice past all the noise, past the hum of the air conditioner, the creaking of the roof, the sound on the street, shuffling the feet, all of it beyond those things to your voice. [01:02:38]
