Quotes
``How about your kids this morning? Amen? Aren't they amazing? Yeah. Praise his holy name. Well, today we're going to open a brand new series and we want to talk about the idea of miracles. This is what most would deem as the most important miracle of the world that ever happened, the miracle of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. And so when we talk about the miracle of the miracle of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, again, it is primarily the most unique. It is by far the most profound in its theological significance, including the hope and the forgiveness, eternal life, and a new beginning. [01:10:09] (43 seconds)
Then the angel spoke to the women. He says, don't be afraid. I know that you're looking for Jesus who was crucified. Verse 6, he isn't here. Let me say that again. He isn't here. Hallelujah. He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was laying. And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you. [01:14:22] (40 seconds)
Stuck in silent Saturday moments. After the pain, before the breakthrough. That's what Saturday was. It was a day of great pain. But God, come on, my folk got to do better than that right there. But God, Sunday was coming. Come on, hallelujah. The disciples didn't know what Sunday was going to hold, but you and I do right now. And we know that Sunday was coming, and even though Saturday was silent, Sunday was about to turn the world upside down. The miracle of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. [01:16:43] (39 seconds)
The resurrection isn't a metaphor. It's not just a nice story. It is a historical event with overwhelming evidence that we can point to. In fact, Jesus appeared. The historical evidence that we find in 1 Corinthians 15 and 6 says that Jesus appeared to over 500 eyewitness accounts. Now, I don't know about you, but if I were a lawyer and I was proving a court case and I could get me one witness that had actually witnessed or watched or seen what had happened, I'd feel like I had a good opportunity to win my court case. [01:19:15] (36 seconds)
Second thing I'll tell you this morning is the power of the miraculous resurrection. Romans 8 is filled with this, and Romans chapter 6. But here we find that the power of the resurrection, that sin was defeated. Jesus' resurrection breaks the power, and I'm going to go ahead and add this in there, breaks the power of sin and death. Let me say it again. The resurrection of Jesus Christ and his shed blood breaks the power of sin in your life. [01:22:19] (30 seconds)
Jesus' resurrection wasn't a display of some just divine power. It was the fulfillment of God's redemptive plan. And through his death, Christ paid the penalty for our sins. Paul writes that the sting of death is sin. But he didn't stop writing right there in 1 Corinthians chapter 15. He said, where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? He goes on to say a few other things, but then he says, thanks be unto God. He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. [01:23:34] (32 seconds)
In John 11, 25, in a few verses there, in 26, he said to her, Jesus said, I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live even though they die. And whoever lives by believing in me will never die. And then he asked the question, do you believe this? New life given. We don't just believe in the resurrection. Here's the beauty of it. We get to experience the resurrection. For everyone that is born again, you don't just get to hear about a good story. You get to experience a good story. [01:25:51] (37 seconds)
Since we've been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things. Then the last piece I want to tell you here is to understand for the purpose that we're mission empowered. Jesus sends us to share the resurrection story. In Matthew 28, 19 through 20, we're called to live on mission. Notice that. For our text this morning, we read, and now go quickly and tell. [01:30:52] (34 seconds)
Today's all about new beginnings. The resurrection of Jesus Christ was about a brand new beginning for everyone. Because when he died, he rent the veil from top to bottom. And where we had been held out, now he says, come in. Come and sit on the mercy seat of God where you can find forgiveness and where your life can be made whole. So today I offer you, not through me, but through Jesus Christ, a brand new beginning. [01:35:13] (31 seconds)
