Resurrection: The Foundation of Our Faith and Hope
Summary
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of our faith, a historical event that validates everything Jesus claimed about Himself and His mission. The Apostle Paul, in 1 Corinthians 15, emphasizes the importance of the resurrection, stating that if Christ has not been raised, our faith is futile. The resurrection is not just a miraculous event but a pivotal moment that authenticates Jesus' divinity and His work on the cross. It is the foundation upon which the Christian faith stands, and without it, our beliefs would be in vain.
The resurrection signifies that Jesus was who He claimed to be: the Son of God. It confirms His divine nature and His authority over life and death. Jesus' resurrection was not merely a return to life but a transformation into a new creation, a new body that defies the natural order. This act of creation by God signifies the beginning of a new creation, a new era where God is actively at work, transforming lives and preparing a new heaven and earth.
The resurrection also has profound implications for us as believers. It assures us of our own resurrection and the promise of eternal life. Just as Jesus was raised with a new body, we too will be given new bodies, free from the limitations and decay of our current existence. This hope of resurrection is not just a future promise but a present reality that transforms how we live today. It calls us to live in the light of eternity, knowing that our lives have eternal significance.
Moreover, the resurrection challenges us to examine the evidence and confront the truth of Jesus' claims. The historical and circumstantial evidence for the resurrection is compelling, and it demands a response. If Jesus is truly alive, then everything He said is true, and it requires us to align our lives with His teachings and His mission.
Finally, the resurrection is an invitation to experience the living Christ personally. It is not just a historical fact to be acknowledged but a reality to be experienced. Jesus invites us into a relationship with Him, where we can know Him, talk to Him, and be transformed by His presence in our lives. This personal encounter with the risen Christ is the ultimate proof of the resurrection, as it changes us from the inside out and confirms the truth of the gospel.

The resurrection is not merely a miraculous event but a pivotal moment that authenticates Jesus' divinity and His work on the cross. It assures believers of eternal life and the truth of the gospel, providing a solid foundation upon which to build their faith. [02:41]
1 Corinthians 15:17-19 (ESV): "And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied."

Quotes
By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preach to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you is of first importance, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. [00:01:02]
If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless, and so is your faith. More than that, we have found then to be false witnesses about God. [00:02:51]
Friends of Christianity and enemies of Christianity know that everything stands or falls on whether Jesus was raised from the dead. That's the crucial fact. If it didn't happen, we are engaging in the biggest fraud in history and we should be closing this church and every other church. [00:06:36]
The resurrection proves that he is not just a great teacher or a prophet. He's something very much more. Without the resurrection, you could not believe in Jesus. He said things about himself that are just not true if he didn't rise from the dead. If he did, everything he said is true. [00:08:28]
Now, we have both eye witness testimony and we have circumstantial evidence that Jesus rose from the dead. That is why there is one profession where more people have become Christians than any other, and it's the legal profession. Isn't that amazing? They understand evidence. [00:44:42]
The New Testament doesn't say Christ rose from the dead. It says he was raised from the dead. He didn't do it. God did it. It was God who in the darkness of the tomb gave him a brand new life. God did it. It was God who in the darkness of the tomb gave him a new body. [01:01:46]
The new creation has begun and we are his new creation. If any man is in Christ, that is the new creation, says Paul. Only there's been a big difference, a big change between the first and the new creation. The first creation began with a new heaven. [01:07:04]
The consequence of the resurrection for individuals and then for the world in which we live, the consequence for us is that one day we too will be resurrected. God isn't just saving your soul, he wants to save the lot. He wants to redeem our bodies. [01:09:39]
You are going to lose your body, but you're not going to lose yourself. You will go on. Your spirit survives death. Two minutes after you're dead, you will know who you are, where you are, and who you're with. It's very important that no one goes out of existence to be with Christ. [01:10:51]
If you ask me how I know that Jesus is alive, the answer is very simple. I was talking to him only this morning. That's the ultimate proof of the resurrection, when you accept that Jesus is alive and you talk to him. [01:16:38]
I said, tell him about yourself. Tell him what you've been told about him. Tell him what you think of him. Tell him about what you want most from life. Just have a chat with him. And I left her for fifteen minutes and came back and she said, he's alive, he's alive. [01:17:54]
But you talk to him and he talks to you, and you know in here that he's alive. And you know in here that the resurrection is true. God bless you and thank you for listening. [01:19:23]
