#GodWithUsInSuffering
“Second, allow our god of liberation to break those chains, to enlighten the darkness. God is not a god with a magic wand who simply wipes problems away. No. Ours is a god of compassion, a god who suffers with us. Much like Mary on that first Easter morning, we are not alone when we suffer. We must, as Christians, as people who seek to follow him who was crucified, we must be people not afraid of suffering.”

#SeeTheChains
“This is very important. Mary is not one who's living in a fantasy land. She has just witnessed the darkest hour of humanity. She acknowledges the darkness. She looks around and sees what is wrong. So too we ought to do. Whether the chain that binds is a habitual sin we are not able to overcome on our own, whether the chain that binds is a chain of injustice, a chain by which people suffer, are separated from their families, are unhoused, are alone, are not able to have the dignity that is their right by birth given to them by god.”
