So how do we put this in application for us today? Every person must eventually wrestle with the same question. What happened to the body of Jesus? Your answer to that question shapes your understanding of god, of truth, and eternity. The second thing I would tell you is that out of first Corinthians chapter 15 verses three through six, that there was there were many eyewitnesses who saw the risen Christ. Amen. You go into a court case, an eyewitness is something you need. In fact, if you have one, you'll probably win your case. But if you have two eyewitnesses, it's all but open and shut. Let me tell you how this stacked up. First Corinthians 15 says, he appeared to Cephas then to the 12, and then after that, he appeared to more than 500 of the brothers. Somebody say 500. 500. Somebody say 500. 500. Come on. Of more than 500 eyewitness accounts to the brothers and sisters at the same time. So here's my point. The resurrection was confirmed by multiple eyewitness encounters. [01:04:06] (71 seconds)  #500EyewitnessAccounts Download clip

It's one thing for us that are believers to say that the body, there was no body there that he was raised from the dead but what about the historical evidence? Is there enough historical evidence to win this case in court? Imma tell you that there is. Jesus's followers did not say that his teachings live on in our heart. No, they said he is alive. This matters because Christianity is rooted in history. We're not afraid as Christians. We're not afraid of historical evidence. In fact, we count it as valuable And here's the deal. It's not mythology. These are not fables that have been made up just to make us feel better. No. That's what the Easter bunny does and that's what the tooth fairy does. Even the early opponents of Christianity did not deny the fact that the tomb was empty. Instead, they attempted to explain it away. In Matthew twenty eight thirteen, the religious leaders claimed the disciples stole the body. Notice something important. They didn't say the body was still in the tomb. They acknowledged it was gone. The body was missing. [01:02:48] (78 seconds)  #ChristianityRootedInHistory Download clip

Some of you today may have come to witness people being baptized or joining the church. You may have come with doubts. You may have come with questions. You may have come with concerns and we're a little different here. We we don't run from the questions. We invite them. Because you see, I don't believe we have anything to hide from. Amen. We're we're pretty stinking transparent around here. This Jesus, we know what he's done. By the lives that have been changed in this house today. And we know what he can do in your life today. See, hope's still alive because Jesus is alive. And if Jesus rose from the dead, he deserves more than just your curiosity He deserves a decision and today is a good day to invite him into your heart and life. Not because you were pressured at this moment but because the truth has confronted you and the holy spirit has convinced you that life is worth the living because of Jesus Christ. Invite him into your heart and life. Really, what we're doing is we're abandoning our old life and we're surrendering to the life that Jesus has for us. And if you're here today and you would like to do that, I wanna give you just a moment right before we baptize. To respond to the truth, to respond to the wooing of the Holy Spirit, to respond at this altar and I can promise you, there'll be a celebration not only in heaven but there'll be a celebration here on this earth as well. So, for just a moment, young man, young lady, husband, wife, child, today is your day. Surrender your life to Jesus. Even if you've walked away, even if you've known him before, today is the day to rededicate your life to Jesus. Is there one that would love to do that this morning? Most of you don't know his story and this again is not air and dirty laundry. It's bragging on Jesus. And and his testimony, he'll tell of it before he's baptized but alcohol, it all but consumed his life. I guess we could say it had consumed your life. Removed him from his family, almost destroyed every bit of that. Found him on a hospital bed all but dead. And god said, I'm not finished with Carson Clare yet. Carson, your name was on a prayer card. Every year at the beginning of the year, we do twenty one days of prayer and fasting and I committed to his card night after night after night and I called his name out to the lord along with others. Didn't have anything to do with me but we were praying and praying and praying and praying over Carson And God got a hold to his heart and he is a new creation in Christ Jesus. So, if you're here today, and you're ready to say, pastor, this wasn't my original plan but I'm convinced today that I wanna surrender my life to Jesus Christ. I want what you've talked about out of the scriptures today, and I believe the testimony of the witnesses that life is worth the living because you live. And if you're here today and ready to make that transition and to surrender all, I've got a couple of prayer partners that are willing to come and just pray with you around this altar real quick. And I wanna ask you, would you just be brave enough, young man and young lady? In fact, there may be a husband, wife couple today that says, this is what our family needs. This is what our marriage needs. We need hope again and it's found in Jesus Christ. And I wanna invite you to just step out from where you are. Folks on the pew won't matter if you step on their toes right now. Nothing's more important than your spiritual decision. [01:19:15] (67 seconds)  #StepOutAndSurrender Download clip

The resurrection reminds us that god specializes. Can I say that again? God specializes in bringing life out of what appears to be dead. Look at your neighbor. Help me today. This is my only time doing it today but look at your neighbor and tell him if you would. You might think I look dead but I'm more alive now than ever before. Come on. Hallelujah. Glory to God. Hallelujah. Whoo. Here's what I want you to understand. Hope is never lost when Jesus Christ is around. Hope is never lost when Jesus is around. Amen. Hallelujah. Glory to his name. Pastor Rhonda, come for just a moment if you would. So, now, I need to return to the question that started all of this today. What if the resurrection really happened? What if? [01:12:27] (60 seconds)  #GodBringsLifeFromDeath Download clip

that even as we approach you in prayer, I'm believing that through the worship and through the prayer and the soon preaching of your word that not one single person that came into this house today will lead the way they came in Jesus' mighty name. Lord, we're asking for a divine encounter with you today. Heal bodies. Take spirits that are broken and make them whole. Take those that doubt today, god, and let the power of conviction. Begin to work and convince minds that Jesus truly is the Christ, the son of the living god, and that through him, we can have eternal life. So, god, we love you today. Thank you for what you're doing throughout our congregation, those watching online, and for our new members. Lord, we celebrate them today and we give you praise for what you're doing.
