Restoration Through Spiritual Brokenness and Trust in Jesus

Summary

In my sermon, I discussed the concept of spiritual brokenness and the healing power of Jesus Christ. I emphasized that when we separate ourselves from Jesus, we separate ourselves from the life that He gives. This separation is not an instantaneous death, but a slow process marked by warning signs that should lead us back to the Living Water. I also highlighted the importance of not letting the pressures of the world overcome the power of God within us. I shared a personal story about a treasured possession that I broke in anger, drawing a parallel to how we often shatter our own spiritual treasures. I concluded by encouraging everyone to trust in Jesus and give Him all the pieces of their broken lives, assuring them that Jesus can restore and even improve upon what was lost.

Devotional

Day 1: The Power of God Within Us

We are vessels filled with the power of God, and no external pressure can crush us as long as this divine power resides within us. The enemy may try to drive a wedge between us and the Lord, but we have been given access to the Father through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. This access provides us with the strength we need to overcome any trials we face in life ([21:13]).

2 Corinthians 4:7 - "But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us."

Reflection: Reflect on a recent trial you faced. How did you rely on the power of God within you to overcome it?

Day 2: The Fountain of Living Water

We often forsake Jesus, the Fountain of Living Water, and try to do things our own way. This separation from Him leads to a slow spiritual death. However, if we heed the warning signs of spiritual dehydration, we can return to the Living Water and regain the life He offers ([01:18]).

Jeremiah 2:13 - "My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water."

Reflection: In what ways have you forsaken Jesus, the Fountain of Living Water, and tried to do things your own way? How can you return to Him?

Day 3: Acknowledging Our Brokenness

There is no shame in acknowledging our brokenness. It is only when we admit our brokenness and our need for healing that we can truly be healed. We must not let the shame of our past mistakes keep us from seeking the healing that only God can provide ([37:21]).

Psalm 34:18 - "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

Reflection: What areas of your life are broken? How can you seek healing from God in these areas?

Day 4: Seeking Healing and Transformation

When we acknowledge our brokenness and seek healing from God, He begins to transform us. He fills us with His joy, His strength, and His life. This transformation is not just for our benefit, but also for the benefit of those around us. As we overflow with God's love and healing, we become a source of healing for others ([40:16]).

Isaiah 58:8 - "Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard."

Reflection: How has God transformed your life? How can you be a source of healing for others?

Day 5: Becoming an Access Point for Others

Once we have been healed and filled by God, we can become an access point for others to experience His healing. Our lives, transformed and overflowing with God's love, can touch others and lead them to the healing they need ([41:23]).

Matthew 5:16 - "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

Reflection: How can you use your own experiences of healing and transformation to help others find their way to God?

Quotes

1. "If I'm full of the Fountain of Living Water then the enemy can't crush me. The enemy can't press me. The enemy can't get me. Sin tries but he can't. Sin causes us to try to do it in our own strength and our own power but we have this treasure in Earth and vessels that whatever the enemy throws at you will not succeed as long as the power of God is inside of you." - 21:13

2. "Because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, we have access to the very throne room of God and that gives us strength we need on the inside to be more than Overcomers in this life." - 23:15

3. "Whatever the reason you've been shattered today, there's healing in Jesus. Whatever the cause, there's Hope in the cross. Whatever it is, trust Jesus today. Will you give him all the pieces of your life? Every little piece that shattered, every little piece that's broken, every little piece. Will you give it to him?" - 29:37

4. "Sin always wants to hide. Sin thrives in secrecy. Sin makes us feel dirty and sin makes us feel unclean. But after a while, we have a desire to not be this way forever. We want to restore what we lost. We want the intimacy back." - 06:17

5. "When you're broken on the inside and life has knocked the breath out of you, you're gasping for breath just trying to survive, just trying to reach your next breath. God is there. He's there and he's ready to breathe life into you again. He wants to heal your Brokenness and he wants to fill you back up but you've got to come to him." - 13:24
