#GuardAgainstIdolatry
“And even in the new covenant, the the church is the bride of Christ, and we are in covenant with him, but when we go after the idols, we go after all the things that the world would have to offer, then it's a fair statement to say, you adulterous people. I don't know about you, but it convicts me. I got convicted when reading it this week, like how easy the things in life and rival friendships take the place of a holy God in our life and it's idolatry.”

#FriendOfGodNotWorld
“A faith that works will resist the rival friendships because a faith that works will start moving this way. And the bible, it's very clear. You cannot be a friend of the world and a friend of God. Isn't that what it says? And you say, well, you can't be friends. You can be friends with somebody, but the problem is we become friends with the system of the world. We become friends with the way the world works, the prince of the power of the air, and we start sliding this way, and God's no.”

#GodWantsYourHeart
“And, I would just say to you this morning, what James is saying is who God is. He's a jealous God. Listen, here's the reason why he created you out of absolutely nothing. He spoke worlds into existence with literally nothing. There was no paper. There was no pencil. There were no scissors. There was no hammer. There was no drill. He spoke the world into existence out of absolutely nothing. He created you. He created me. And God in his covenant relationship with us wants your attention, your affection. Remember what I said earlier? He's not gonna share with anybody else.”

#PrayWithRightHeart
“So you gotta ask. When Jesus was teaching his disciples to pray, he didn't say, hey, and if you pray or hopefully you will pray, but he said, and when you pray, here's the way to do it. That there was just an assumption that you would be praying. So I think that we need to take James' advice and we need to start asking. There needs to be a commitment to prayer if we wanna have a faith that works. A faith that works will be a faith that responds in prayer. And it's not just the act of prayer, is it? It's the second thing, it's the substance of prayer that is important as well. And he says, you ask when you do pray, you ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly to spend it on your passions.”
