Establish Your Heart: Renounce Generational Sin and Receive Healing

An established heart stands on God’s truth and God’s truth alone, no matter the circumstances, the bad news, or the pressure coming from every side. James 5 shows the farmer waiting for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for the early and latter rain, and that picture becomes the call to be patient and establish the heart because the coming of the Lord is at hand. The farmer does not dig up the seed every five minutes. The farmer waits, because fruit comes when the rain comes.

An established heart has inner stability, security, and unwavering faith. The heart becomes calm, fixed, and unshakable when prayer, the Word, and obedience keep making it stronger. The established heart also knows how to receive correction without getting offended, especially when truth comes from people who really love God and love the person enough to speak straight. God uses those voices to mark a life for the better.

Iniquity and transgression become the leakage in the heart. Isaiah 59 makes it plain that God’s arm is not too weak to save and his ear is not deaf to hear, but sin can cut a person off from God. Hidden iniquity can come against health, family, marriage, finances, and the next generation. The issue is not that God is missing it. Somewhere, the heart has to ask, “Lord, where is it that this life is missing it?”

David becomes the example of a man who did not run from God when his sin was exposed. Psalm 51 shows David crying, “Wash me thoroughly,” because he knew he could not fix himself. David did not cover it up, dress it up, or pretend holiness. David came straight to God and asked for truth in the inner being and wisdom in the innermost heart.

Jesus becomes the answer to transgression, iniquity, guilt, shame, sickness, and condemnation. Isaiah 53 declares that he was wounded for transgressions, bruised for iniquities, and by his stripes healing comes. That truth must be established in the heart until the believer can say, “I am the healed of the Lord,” even when the outside does not look like it yet.

The call to renounce legal rights says the enemy does not get to keep using generational sin, trauma, wrong beliefs, word curses, or old patterns. Romans 6 gives the new identity: servants of righteousness, not slaves to sin. Every plant the Father did not plant must be uprooted, and every voice of iniquity must be shut down in Jesus’ name.
