Pause to Remember God's Victories and Move Forward

Joshua 11 pauses the story right in the middle of transition. The text is not just giving a military summary. The Holy Spirit slows everything down before the land gets divided, because before God calls his people into another season of obedience, God reminds them of his faithfulness in the last one.

God had promised Abraham land for his offspring. God had promised Moses that Israel would be brought in. God had promised Joshua that no man would stand before him and that God would be with him. Joshua 11 shows God doing exactly what he said he would do. Joshua was not successful because he was a brilliant general or because his strategy was so impressive. Joshua was successful because God was with him.
