A lot of that is contingent upon this self-talk conundrum that God wants to help us out with. So here's what we're going to talk about in the first message today. Relying on God's word to talk ourselves, you tell me, down off the ledge. [00:12:00] (19 seconds)  #RelyOnGodsWord

When we're in this exaggerated state of conversation, our soul is talking to us in exaggerated emotional terminology. We feel alone. We feel isolated. It's a terrible, terrible feeling. Now the thing about being a follower of Christ is that God gives His Spirit, the Scripture teaches us, to dwell within us. And we are literally never alone. You'll see that as this message goes on. But we can feel alone. Our soul will lie to us and make us feel like we're all on our own up against the world. [00:27:56] (33 seconds)  #RejectSoulLies

God wants to push aside the chatter, the loud chatter that goes on in our brains that misleads us, misguides us. And he wants to pierce through and redirect us. And give us truth that nullifies the negative and misleading voices, conversation that's going on inside our brain. But you and I have to become familiar more and more with his word. Remember the foundations we laid at the beginning. We have to get into the word and let the word get into us so that that voice is distinguishable. We have it at our fingertips at those crucial moments. [00:34:54] (35 seconds)  #OpenThePrisonDoor

Some of us at times are like somebody that is starving to death. Literally, physically. Picture somebody visibly, significantly starving to death. And yet, their refrigerator is full of food. It's full of food. But they will not get up and open the refrigerator and prepare themselves even a sandwich. They just keep complaining, I'm starving. I'm starving. Can't you see? I'm starving. I'm starving. And we are self-afflicting at times, self-imprisoning at times, and the prison door is not even locked. All we have to do is push it open and walk out. All we have to do is get up and make the sandwich. All we have to do is cook Friday eggs. We know this on some level, but we get stuck. We listen to the voices that say, it's over. It's not going to change. It's always going to be bad. But we won't initiate the slightest bit of action to change it. We won't change the voice even when God is offering us a whole different vocal track and pathway. [00:35:40] (62 seconds)  #SpeakTruthToSoul

We have to learn, you have to learn, we have to learn how to speak to our own souls. And we have to say to our soul, declare to our soul sometimes, I know what you're saying to me, soul. But this is what God says, and this is what I'm saying to you, soul. We have to learn to do this. It's not going to be automatic. If we allow the automatic thoughts to continue to pour out, we'll stay stuck unnecessarily. [00:36:49] (26 seconds)  #GodWaitsForUs

But here's the deal. I have to really trust him. I have to really depend on him. I have to really stop saying, oh, no, no, no, no, God, but I don't need this. I just want that. If I insist on saying, oh, God, but I just want this. But I don't want you. I don't want your will, at least not completely. Maybe partially. But I don't want it all. We cut ourselves off from the good that he wants to do for us, in us. And then ultimately through us. Because we become somebody different. And we become a blessing to every single person we ever meet in our life. That's God's desire for each and every one of us, to bless us and to then bless others through us. But his hands are tied until we are literally all in. Trust him completely. Follow him fully, freely, and forever. [00:44:07] (50 seconds)
