God often allows us to walk through trials and suffering, not as a sign of His absence, but as a means to refine and strengthen our faith. These hardships, though painful, are opportunities for our faith to be proven genuine—more precious than gold—and to result in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus is revealed. Even when we cannot see Him, we are called to love and trust Him, knowing that the outcome of our faith is the salvation of our souls. In the midst of struggles, we are reminded to rejoice, for our hope is anchored in Christ’s resurrection and the inheritance He has secured for us, which can never perish, spoil, or fade. [00:48]
1 Peter 1:3-9 (NIV)
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
Reflection: What is one current trial or struggle you are facing, and how might you invite God to use it to refine and strengthen your faith today?
When anxiety and worry threaten to overwhelm us, God invites us to bring everything to Him in prayer, with thanksgiving. As we do, He promises a peace that transcends all understanding—a peace that will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. This peace is not something we can manufacture or buy; it is a gift from God that comes as we trust Him with our needs and thank Him for His faithfulness. Even in the midst of uncertainty, we can experience this supernatural peace by continually turning to Him, presenting our requests, and remembering His goodness. [07:45]
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Reflection: When you feel anxious today, what is one specific thing you can thank God for as you bring your concerns to Him in prayer?
Before we ever sought after God, He was already seeking us, desiring relationship and fellowship with us. Jesus stands at the door and knocks, inviting us to open our hearts to Him so that He may come in and share life with us. The joy and satisfaction He offers far surpass any earthly pleasure or meal; it is the feast of His promises, hope, and presence. When we respond to His invitation, we experience a depth of fellowship and fulfillment that nothing else can provide, both now and in the inheritance to come. [03:39]
Revelation 3:20 (NIV)
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
Reflection: In what area of your life do you sense Jesus knocking today, and how can you intentionally open the door to deeper fellowship with Him?
Temptation and the distractions of this world can easily throw off our spiritual compass, causing confusion and leading us away from God’s best. We are called to flee from temptation and not rely solely on our own reasoning, but to intentionally pull away to quiet places where we can reconnect with God through prayer, Scripture, and fellowship with other believers. As we do, our hearts are recalibrated to Jesus, our true north, and we regain the peace, confidence, and hope that only He can provide. [30:28]
2 Timothy 2:22 (NIV)
Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
Reflection: What is one distraction or temptation you need to step away from this week in order to realign your heart with Jesus, your true north?
No matter what we face—joy or sorrow, ease or struggle—God calls us to give thanks in all circumstances. Gratitude shifts our focus from our problems to God’s faithfulness, reminding us that He is in control and working for our good. Even when we do not understand or like our circumstances, choosing to thank God helps us trust Him more deeply and opens our hearts to His peace and presence. As we practice gratitude, our faith is strengthened, and we become a source of hope and encouragement to others. [16:40]
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Reflection: What is one difficult circumstance you are facing right now, and how can you choose to thank God in the midst of it today?
Today’s passage from 1 Peter 3:1-9 reminds us that our faith is not only tested but also refined and strengthened through trials. God, in His great mercy, has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This hope is not fleeting; it is anchored in an inheritance that can never perish, spoil, or fade, kept for us in heaven. Even though we may walk through seasons of suffering, grief, or doubt, these are not signs of God’s absence. Rather, they are opportunities for our faith to be proven genuine and to result in praise, glory, and honor when Christ is revealed.
Throughout Scripture, we see that faith often grows in the soil of adversity. Like Hezekiah, who cried out to God and was heard, we are encouraged to press into God during our struggles, not to withdraw. Remembering who we are in Christ and recalling the moments when He first called us helps us to stand firm. God knows us intimately—our quirks, our insecurities, our needs—and He pursues us with relentless love. He invites us to dine with Him, to experience the fullness of His promises and the joy that surpasses understanding.
In the midst of anxiety and uncertainty, we are called to bring everything to God in prayer, with thanksgiving. The peace He gives is not something we can manufacture or find elsewhere; it is a supernatural peace that guards our hearts and minds. Sometimes, God answers in the quietest moments, even when we feel empty or inadequate. He gives us what we need for each day, teaching us to trust Him step by step.
Our reasoning, like a compass near a magnet, can become confused and unreliable when we are surrounded by temptation or fear. But when we pull away from distractions and realign ourselves with Christ—our true north—clarity and peace return. God is not a God of confusion but of order and peace. He invites us to flee from temptation, to quiet ourselves before Him, and to trust that He will guide us.
As we grow in faith, we also grow in compassion for others, especially those who do not yet know Christ. Our prayers become powerful and effective, not only for ourselves but for those around us. Each day, as we look back on God’s faithfulness and forward to our eternal inheritance, we are strengthened to live with hope, gratitude, and trust, knowing that He is always with us and working all things for our good.
1 Peter 1:3-9 (NIV) — Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
We need to remember that in order for us to stand firm in our faith in the midst of our trials we need to remember in whom we have our trust in and who we are in him. A good way to strengthen our faith is to start by remembering when he first called us. Do you remember that? Maybe it's today, maybe today he said I want you, I want to connect with you, I want a relationship with you. Regardless of when you heard it, he spoke and you listened. Nothing compares to the satisfying meal that Jesus is going to give us, and I don't mean just eating meal. The meal of his promises, the meal that we eat of his hope. Nothing will compare with that joy. Jesus did come. He died. He conquered death, and he rose again on our behalf, which, like I said, it created a way for us to come directly to the Father that we can enjoy life to its fullest, even here. We don't even need to look forward to our trials and go, yes, a trial's coming. I can feel it. No. I think Jennifer and I were talking and she says she looks for the quickest exit if she sees a trial coming. It's true. It isn't it? You kind of go, I don't really care for conflict. I don't really care for that. But I also know that when we are listening to God and we follow him, he'll help us with that. We don't have to be riddled with anxiety. We're told we're not alone. Our Creator, who knows us far better than we know ourselves, is with us, and He will give us what we need. Only He can give us that kind of peace and take care and get rid of the fear of the unknown. And as we look back at who Christ is in our life, we look forward to what Jesus has already done for us. The inheritance that's coming for us. One that will never perish, spoil, or fade, and it's kept in heaven for us. The outcome of our faith is the ultimate salvation of our soul. Our faith, even though it may be so tiny, because He doesn't say even as small as a mustard seed, that thing can grow and be a humongous tree. But even if it's just that tiny, He guards that, trust Him. The minute we look back to Him, things start stabilizing. [00:18:43] (41 seconds) #FaithThatEndures
``He promised that it will be for our good. It will be working all of the things that are happening for our good, which I find amazing. Even my failures, even the things that I've said or done that I went, oh, can I just take one of those erasers? I don't know, you guys seen those magic erasers? Those things are kind of amazing. We use Sharpies in the back with the kids. And I'll tell you what, those erasers just clean it right off. That is amazing. God does that with our souls. He erases that. The only thing that sticks is, I don't want to do that again. Right? I mean, that's okay. I'm all right with that. But I do want to pull in closer to him, lest I go back, lest I lose sight of him. We don't want to start relying solely on our own reasoning. That'll be wacko. So pull ourselves away to a quiet place where we can reconnect with God through prayer. Read devotions, like I said, in scriptures. Those are good things to remember. Quiet ourselves before him and trust him, and that peace will come in, and it will guard our faith and keep us strong. And we will become hope for other people, and people will see that. [00:31:31] (32 seconds) #TrueNorthInJesus
So many times, like in talking with the kids or talking with somebody who's going through something that where they don't know, can I trust God? And I can tell you, I know no other way. There is no other way. He is the way. He's the one that gave us life. Who better to know us than him? [00:32:03] (25 seconds) #QuietTrustBringsPeace
