1) "In the midst of the life change that we experience, we always have the opportunity, hopefully, to come together as a family. And worship God. And that's one of the things that I appreciate so much about Peak City Church, is the way that you come together to worship God. And in addition to that, one of the things that I love about this church is your staff team. Like, I do this almost every time I'm here, because it's one of my favorite things to do. And that is just infuse life and acknowledge how great your pastors and your staff are."

2) "So if you turn to the book of Colossians chapter 1, you'll see in verse 15, right above it, it has a title probably in your Bible. It says, The Supremacy of Christ. Now there's a superlative. The supremacy. So if you're going to talk about the supremacy of someone, you better lay it down. And I believe that's exactly what Paul does. Check this out. Paul says, and he uses a lot of pronouns in here, he's and him's. I'm going to replace those with Jesus because that's who he's talking about. But he says, the Son, Jesus, is the image of the invisible God. The Son. Firstborn over all creation. For in Jesus, all things were created. Things in heaven, things on earth, visible and invisible. Whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities, all things have been created through Jesus and for Jesus."

3) "So folks, the one who created us, the one who created everything that surrounds us, he lives with us. Scripture shows us that he lives in us. Think about the awesomeness of that for just a moment. That means that for you, if you walked in here today, or if you're joining us online, and you follow Christ, you have a relationship with him, you have professed a your belief in him and what he's done, and he lives inside of you. Folks, that means you walked in here with the greatest of all time today. Come on, somebody give him some praise. That's a big deal."

4) "Who are you? Folks, you are the handiwork of God. You are the design of a creator, the one who created the universe. You're a masterpiece made in his image. You're unique. You're not incidental. You're not ordinary. You're not accidental. You were created with great intentionality and great love and great care. And when you think about it, when you allow your mind to go there, it should provide a great sense of significance in your life, a great sense of greatness in your life."

5) "So we've got millions, millions of these microscopic crosses holding us together, but we have one cross, the cross of Jesus that's holding us to God forever. And so the last thing I'll say about this, and you might be wondering, Derek, why are you spending so much time in a church just trying to make a case for Jesus being the greatest of all time? I don't know if we do enough of that. And I think about the person that isn't sure. And so we have to have reason. We have to have understanding of why he is the greatest. And here's the biggest thing. Folks, he beat death. Y'all know nobody's ever done that. Not before and not since. He beat death. And in doing so, he gave all of us life."

6) "Sin doesn't make you bad. Sin doesn't make you a bad person. Sin makes you dead. Religion says sin makes you bad. And here's the path. Here's a process by which you can make yourself better. That's what religion does. That's what culture does. The gospel says that sin makes you dead, spiritually dead. And the reality is there isn't one thing that a dead person can do to better their situation. They're dead. No matter what the plan, no matter what the process, they're not breathing. But Jesus gives us life and he raises the dead to life."

7) "Think about it. Jesus had no servants, yet they call him master. He had no degree, but they call him teacher. never won a military battle, yet he conquered the world. He never wrote a book in his life, but he's had more books written about him than any other person in human history. He's the greatest of all time. Why am I driving this so hard? Because like his closest friends, we often lose sight of who he is and what he's called us to do. We don't do it on purpose. We get focused on things. We get distracted with things."

8) "Is wondering about, is asking the question, is wanting to be great, is that bad? Folks, no, it's not bad. But the motivation, the heart behind why you want greatness, that's what you have to check. That's what I have to check. That's what we have to put up against the greatest of all time. Why do we want to be great? The Bible said, Colossians said, we were created in him for him. It is for his glory that you and I exist, that we breathe."
