Greatness is not a power according to the scriptures; it's not status, it's not achievement, it's service or servanthood. We're going to see that from Jesus. True greatness isn't climbing to the top; it's bending down low. It's been willing to bend down low. [00:02:43]

Jesus is saying here in this first thing we've got to be humbled by the cross. The true greatness follows the way of the cross. The way to follow Christ is to follow his sacrifice and his humility. Then we wait, we wait and we wait patiently for the promise of that Eternal reward. [00:12:26]

Do we really understand the Cross of Christ? You know, this is for someone who's a speaker of the word, this is a like a dream to get this. Do we understand the Cross of Christ? Do we understand that it had to happen? This had to happen because you and I, we are sinners. [00:09:07]

You have to come to that point where you realize I am a sinner, my sin is devastating, it's destroying me. You have to come to Christ and receive his grace. You have to be then humbled of your own ambition. You have to have that idea and you have to understand that it's not about me. [00:21:20]

If any man or woman desire to be first, the same shall be last of all and the servant of all. We just go that again, if any man or woman desire to be first, the same shall be last of all and the servant of all. Wow, what a verse. [00:22:05]

In God's kingdom, it's the weak, it's the dependent that are honored. Those are the ones he's looking for. Those are the ones he's actually going to make great. Weak so I can make them strong. Greatness is welcoming the least, not climbing into first position, not destroying anybody on the way. [00:27:40]

The greatest are those who will lay down their ambitions, lay them at the cross. But what happens if we ignore this? What happens if we say I'm not going to give up my spotlight, I'm not going to let anybody touch my spotlight? That spotlight is going to fade. [00:33:01]

Serve someone. Jesus says it's actually the key to life. It's the key to the next life. Serve and triple serve. And again, we have sign-up sheets there at the back where you can serve. Come and speak to us anytime. Again, so just as I finish now, if the Lord has spoken to your heart. [00:36:16]

The world tells you to chase the stars, chase gold bars and Fort Knox. Jesus says, don't do that, don't do that. The greatest are those who will lay down their ambitions, lay them at the cross. But what happens if we ignore this? What happens if we say I'm not going to give up my spotlight? [00:32:50]

Jesus is saying the greatest thing that you can ever hang is the love of God, to love him, to love your neighbor. This is what he says in Matthew 22:40. He says on these two things, love God, love your neighbor, hang all the law and the prophets. That's what greatness is. [00:29:39]

The question really is not will I be great, but rather whose greatness are we seeking? Again, if you've never trusted in Christ this morning, please come and speak to us. If you've never trusted in his death and resurrection for your sins, do it today. Step out of the spotlight and step into his glorious light. [00:34:20]

If greatness is about serving the weak, are you and I willing to do something about it? Are we going to start looking for the little children? If you remember the Good Samaritan, he's not called a Good Samaritan, he's called a certain Samaritan, just an ordinary Joe. [00:30:46]
