Disobedience opens the door for spiritual influence from the enemy, even in the lives of believers. When we choose to ignore God's commands or live flippantly, we give the enemy an opportunity to affect our thoughts, emotions, and actions. This influence can subtly lead us away from God's best, causing us to regress in our spiritual walk and experience unnecessary struggles. It's not enough to simply believe; obedience is what keeps us aligned with God's will and protected from the enemy's schemes. Take time today to examine areas where you may be giving ground to the enemy through disobedience, and ask God to help you walk in obedience and close those doors. [07:03]
Ephesians 2:2 (ESV)
"in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—"
Reflection: Is there a specific area in your life where you know you are disobeying God? What step can you take today to surrender that area and invite the Holy Spirit’s influence instead?
Even as believers, we are warned not to give the devil any opportunity or foothold in our lives. Allowing even a small space—through bitterness, anger, or unrepented sin—can lead to greater spiritual struggles and the need for deliverance. Just as a car needs to be refueled regularly, our spiritual lives require ongoing attention, worship, and connection with God and His people. By staying vigilant and refusing to give the enemy any ground, we protect ourselves from his influence and walk in greater freedom. [07:32]
Ephesians 4:27 (ESV)
"and give no opportunity to the devil."
Reflection: What is one “small” area of your life where you may be giving the enemy a foothold? How can you intentionally close that door today?
When we find ourselves regressing—losing our passion for God, neglecting prayer, or withdrawing from fellowship—the antidote is heartfelt praise and worship. David modeled this by commanding his soul to bless the Lord, even when he didn’t feel like it. True praise is not just an outward ritual but a deep, inner devotion that honors God regardless of our circumstances. Turning to praise, even in the midst of spiritual struggle, stops regression and sets us back on the path toward God’s presence and victory. [12:55]
Psalm 103:1 (ESV)
"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!"
Reflection: When was the last time you praised God from your innermost being, even when you didn’t feel like it? Can you take a moment right now to offer Him genuine praise?
The enemy seeks to suppress and depress believers, pressing down our joy and concealing our sense of victory. But God has given us victory through Jesus Christ, and we are called to walk with our heads held high, not in defeat. Even when we don’t feel victorious, we can remind ourselves of God’s promises and refuse to let spiritual pressure steal our zeal. By focusing on Christ’s finished work and continuing to serve and praise Him, we break free from suppression and live in the victory He has secured for us. [25:26]
1 Corinthians 15:57 (ESV)
"But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
Reflection: In what area of your life do you feel suppressed or defeated? How can you declare and walk in Christ’s victory over that area today?
The key to freedom from all forms of spiritual oppression is to submit ourselves fully to God and actively resist the devil. This is not a passive stance but a strong, intentional refusal to yield to the enemy’s tactics. When we take our stand in God, the devil flees in terror, unable to withstand a believer who is fully surrendered and resistant to his influence. Let your submission to God be so complete that there is no room left for the enemy, and watch as he runs from every area of your life. [35:53]
James 4:7 (ESV)
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
Reflection: What does submitting to God look like for you today? What is one practical way you can resist the enemy’s influence right now?
Today’s focus is on the reality of spiritual influence—both dark and light—and the steps the enemy uses to gain ground in our lives. While many avoid talking about demonic influence, ignoring it only gives it more power. As believers, we are owned by the Lord and cannot be possessed by the enemy, but we can be deeply influenced, even inhabited, by demonic forces—not in terms of ownership, but in terms of occupation and influence. The world’s brokenness is a result of these spiritual influences, and we must recognize that both the Holy Spirit and evil spirits are vying for influence over our thoughts, emotions, and actions.
Disobedience opens doors to the enemy, even for Christians. Paul’s warnings to the church in Ephesus make it clear: believers can give place to the devil, and when we do, we may need deliverance. Just as a car needs to be refueled, our spiritual lives require continual renewal through worship, the Word, and fellowship. The enemy’s tactics often follow a pattern: regression, repression, suppression, and depression. Regression is when we find ourselves slipping back into old patterns, losing our spiritual fervor. The antidote is repentance and praise—blessing the Lord with all that is within us, as David modeled in Psalm 103.
Repression and suppression are about restraining or concealing the natural, God-given expressions of life and joy. The enemy wants to mute our praise and stifle our joy, but God desires exuberant, authentic expression from His children. When we allow ourselves to be repressed or suppressed, it affects not only us but those around us—our families, our workplaces, even our churches. Depression, the final step, is a broken spirit that the enemy exploits to bring conflict, confusion, and destruction. Yet, even in the darkest moments, a word of encouragement, a scripture, or a song of praise can break the cycle and restore joy.
The solution is found in James 4:7: “Submit to God, resist the devil, and he will flee.” Submission to God is an active refusal to submit to the enemy’s tactics. Resistance is a spiritual, even military, action that causes the enemy to flee in terror. When we stand firm in God, the enemy cannot hold us. No matter how far we’ve gone down the wrong road, turning around in repentance and praise brings us back to victory and freedom in Christ.
Psalm 103:1-5 (ESV) — > Bless the Lord, O my soul,
> and all that is within me,
> bless his holy name!
> Bless the Lord, O my soul,
> and forget not all his benefits,
> who forgives all your iniquity,
> who heals all your diseases,
> who redeems your life from the pit,
> who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
> who satisfies you with good
> so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Ephesians 4:27 (ESV) — > and give no opportunity to the devil.
James 4:7 (ESV) — > Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
It doesn't matter how far down the wrong road you're going. Turn around. See what I just said? It doesn't matter how far down the wrong road you've gone. And that's what we have to do as Christians. We have to realize, okay, I'm not praying like art, too. I'm not. I'm not going to church. Like I aren't too. I'm not reading my Bible. Like I aren't too. I'm not even. I'm not even living for God. Like I aren't too. That's what repent means. Repentance means turn around. And when you turn around, bless the Lord. Just praise him. Amen. [00:13:31] (43 seconds) #TurnAroundRepent
God does not want us depressed and sad. I'm not telling you just because something didn't happen, right? Or your team didn't win yesterday, or, I don't know, a friend didn't call you or what? You're down, you're down. I'm talking about when you just battle it days at a time. Spiritual influences is intact there. And you're sad. I got news for you this morning, God doesn't want you sad. He don't want you crushed. The devil takes advantage of people in that state of mind and he moves in with conflict and confusion that would destroy their happiness, their homes, their businesses, everything you have. Depression will destroy every part of your life. But a word of comfort or encouragement from a friend, a scripture, just worshiping and praising God. I'm here to tell you, if we make it too hard, we'll break that spirit. [00:29:59] (63 seconds) #GodRejectsDepression
I don't care if it's regression. I don't care if it's suppression. I don't care if it's depression. I don't care what it is. It'll break a crushed spirit. And the direction you were going in a stop. And next thing you know, you're going in a victory, victorious, joyful, all hell still going on around you. But guess what? You in Christ Jesus. And he who the sun sets free is free indeed. And you can feel the freedom picking off of you. You're not just listening to the enemy anymore. You're listening to God because your eyes are on him. [00:32:38] (35 seconds) #BreakTheCrushedSpirit
Submitting ourselves to God means that we refuse to submit to the devil's presence, his deceiving way. If you're submitting to God, then you refuse to submit to the enemy. Me, I will not. I will not regress. I will not suppress. I will not. I will not be depressed. I will not be oppressed. I will not. Why? You don't have time. There's no room to submit to the enemy tactics because you're so full of being. Submitted to God. [00:34:53] (28 seconds) #NoRoomForEnemy
