#submittogod
“But what if submitting it looks less like you coming up with all the plans and asking for his signature? And what if submission looked more like you taking a blank piece of paper and writing your name at the bottom and saying, Lord, you fill it in however you want. My signature's already on there. Where you go, I will go. Where you lead, I'll follow. I submit it to you. Fill it in however you want, Lord. Your way, not my way. Your plans, not my plans.”

#chooseintegrity
“Hear me in this. There's a difference between your strongest desires and your deepest desires. And we need to recognize difference. Here's an example of what this might look like. In a moment of frustration or temptation, your strongest felt desire might be to gossip. It might be to slander. It might be to criticize. It might be to share something that's not your place to share. But I hope that your deepest desire, if you take a step back and take a deep breath, is to be a person of integrity. To be a person with a good reputation, a good name. To be known as someone who's spiritually mature, who can be trusted.”

#resistthedeceiver
“The serpent's trick all along since the garden is to oppose the good designs, the good rules, the good guardrails of our heavenly father by trying to plant an idea of doubt in our head. What if God's holding out on you? What if it'd be easier? What if you'd be happier to disobey? But just like in the garden, that sin always separates, destroys, leads to death. So don't fall for it. Don't fall for the age old trick. Submit to God. Trust Him. Commit to Him and Him alone.”

#liveforeternity
“God isn't far away. He's as close as the mention of his name. So maybe when you think about your life, you've been living your life for just this small section here on earth. But today, you can change that. Today, you can make the decision. I'm not gonna live just for this brief little section of my existence, but I'm gonna live with the end in mind, with eternity in mind. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. There's a God who loves you, who sent his son Jesus to die for you, to forgive you, to wash you clean, to make you new, to offer you eternal life, a changed life.”

#standyourground
“So I should have to ask, is that how you're viewing the enemy spiritually in your life? That's not just like, oh, yeah. I'm resisting some chocolate cake. But, no, scanning the field, scanning your life, looking at the vulnerabilities, the weak spots in your family, in your children. Where is the enemy trying to gain ground, and what would it look like to actively oppose him, to stop him, to fight him, to recognize there is a villain in your story who is working to kill, steal, and destroy your life? How is he coming after your mental health, your mindset, your kids, your marriage? Resist the devil. Oppose him. Stand your ground. This is your role and your responsibility as a follower of Christ.”

“But as adults, we're not all that different. God asks us, do you want peace? Do you want spiritual maturity? A rich prayer life? A strong marriage? Financial blessings? Godly community? And like my toddlers, we go, yay. And then he goes, okay, here's how you get there. By submitting to me, denying and resisting the enemy, resisting sin, incorporating spiritual disciplines, obedience, memorizing scripture, filling your mind with truth, being part of a church. And like toddlers, we go, no. It's a wrong perspective that keeps us from all the good things that God has for us.”

#memorizescripture
“So what would it look like to memorize a few verses this week? To make this a regular part of your walk with the Lord, your regular walk, your regular way of drawing near to God, to fill your mind with truth, to fill your mind with scripture. So that at any moment when you might feel tempted, when you might feel like you wanna do something that would be disobedient to the Lord, you wanna do something that seems like a shortcut, that you'd be reminded of the scripture, that you'd be reminded of the truth of God's will, that you would stand on that foundation.”

#fillyourmindwithtruth
“What would it look like this week to sow to the spirit by filling your mind with God's truth. In our basement at home, we have scriptures written all over the the ceiling in our basement. And so we see it all the time, these different verses that I'm trying to memorize, that I wanna fill my mind with so that in any moment I'm reminded of the truth of God's word. I don't have to pull up my phone and Google it, but it's right there. It's ready. So in the moment when temptation hits, in the moment when discouragement hits, in the moment where you feel frustrated, you can have scripture right there to rebuke the enemy, to resist him, to draw near to God, to walk by the spirit and not by the flesh.”
