### Summary
Welcome, everyone. Today, I want to talk about the unique role of the Church of Jesus Christ. Only the Church, filled with the Holy Spirit, can show people forgiveness, freedom, and life everlasting. No other religion can do that. Islam and Buddhism can't show you Jesus; only the Church can. But even within the Church, not everyone can show you Jesus. So, what are the wells that God is asking us to unearth? What are the ancient paths we need to return to?
Let's look at Matthew 10:8, which says, "Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without paying." These are the wells God has placed on my heart. This isn't something that came overnight; it's been building in me for years. Even last night, as I was praying, God reminded me of something spoken over me as a teenager. God is stirring something in this church, and it's going to be uncomfortable. It will cost us our reputation and comfort, but it's necessary.
From the beginning of my leadership here, several men spoke words from God about making this place a center of healing. We've prayed over those words, and now it's time to act on them. We need to wear these words, try them, and live them. God said He would make this place a center of healing, and it's time to re-dig those wells.
I encourage you to engage in conversations about what the Holy Spirit has been saying to you this week. Join life groups and discuss these teachings. Ask each other, "What's God been saying to you this week?" and hold each other accountable. When God speaks, He has a purpose, and we need to act on it.
God reminds us to look back at the ways we used to do things, the things He asked us to do. We need to remember and walk in those ancient paths. This isn't just for us as individuals but also for us as a church. What are the wells that this church was built on that have been plugged up? What are the ancient paths that are now overgrown? The Holy Spirit's job is to remind us of what God has done and said and to teach us what He will do and say.
God is stirring something in me, and it's not just for our church but for the universal Church. We need to re-dig the wells we've allowed to be blocked. Hearing God's voice and being led by His Spirit is one of those wells. If we're not a people who hear the Spirit of God, we have nothing to offer the world. Anybody can give money or food, but only the Church can offer Jesus Christ.
We need to repent of the fear that has stopped us from praying for the sick. I've prayed for many people, and not all have been healed, but they still come back for prayer. People are drawn to someone willing to step out and pray for them. God can heal supernaturally, and we need to believe that. Matthew 10:8 is our mandate: "Heal the sick, cast out demons, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead." This is our inheritance and what we are called to do.
Jesus healed people out of compassion, not just to validate His apostles. He saw people as sheep without a shepherd and had mercy on them. The signs and wonders are not a sign of a man's righteousness but of God's righteousness. Jesus is the image of the invisible God, and we are called to reflect Him. We need to do what the Son does and say what the Son says.
This calling is not just for the leaders but for everyone who believes. Jesus sent out the 72 with the same commission to heal the sick and proclaim the Kingdom of God. The Great Commission is for all of us. We need to be a church that not only talks a good game but also walks a good walk. It's going to get messy, and it's going to cost us, but we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit's power.
For those new to this journey, remember what brought you here. It wasn't the quiet pews or the nice worship; it was something inside you that told you to be here. God wants you to be part of this journey. If you're feeling pain or sickness, reach out and touch the garment of Jesus. Let's pray for healing right now. In Jesus' name, be healed. Holy Spirit, come and make these words powerful. Let healing flow through this place and take us to the next level.
