“``Peace anchors itself to truth when our emotions are telling a lie. We don't have to choose to believe a lie. Sometimes it's work to find the truth and to believe it and walk in it, but we can do that and God calls us to. The child that had been adopted doesn't stop having hard days. Often, they just stop wondering which family they belong to because they become settled in what has been established. Peace is not merely something Christ gives. Peace is something he established through the cross, which means not that he would, but he can't take it back because it's already been established.”
63s
“Think about it this way. Imagine a child that has been adopted. Peace with the family looks like the adoption papers have been signed. The child legally belongs to the family, and the relationship has been established whether the child feels secure or not that day. They probably don't feel secure that day, but they are a part of that family. And peace in the family looks like over time, the child learns to trust the parents. They begin to experience security and rest and confidence. Peace with God is a status, and the peace of God is an experience. I am at peace with God. Therefore, I can receive the peace of God. Y'all got that?”

“But, thankfully, Ephesians doesn't end with verse three saying you're a dirty, rotten scoundrel. There's more to the story. And verse four begins with these two words that change everything for our lives. He said, but was this. I was living in sin. I was broken. I was a liar. I was a thief, but God. I didn't know who I was, but God. I mistreated people, but God. I thought I was gonna burn if I walked inside of a church, but God. Two of the most beautiful words because those words remind us that salvation isn't just about what we did, but it's about what God did and what God is doing in our lives.”

“This is the best news that we could ever receive because we were dead, but God was rich in mercy. He didn't have just a little bit. Whenever I think of someone that's rich, they have enough for the whole world. He has enough mercy for the whole world. He's not gonna run out of mercy. He's not stingy with his mercy. We were far off from God, but he brought us near. It doesn't say that we were far off, but he said, come on. Come close. It's he brought us near. It's one thing to say, you can come if you want. It's another thing to say, I'll be there at 07:00 to pick you up. Be ready to go. We couldn't save ourselves, but he extended grace.”
