#HolinessInJesus
“See, the proactive ingredient to holiness is less about sin and more about Jesus. I think we always begin our pursuit of holiness with getting rid of the bad. But friends, Paul concludes, and in ancient thought, that's that's usually the way that we're trying to draw attention to what we say lastly here, and Paul is saying, friends, clothe yourselves with the presence of Jesus. Holiness begins with a desire for what is good and right, what is holy. And much of the time in our battle against the flesh, we are only in a posture of avoidance. We're trying to get away from something. We flee, and we run away, and we avoid what is wrong, and yet scripture also invites us instead to do something. We're not turning away nothing, we're turning away from the sin to Jesus. We turn to Jesus.”

#CloseToJesus
“Many of us only try one at a time, though, that we desire to be close with Jesus, but we can't seem to get close to Jesus because we're actually living in sin. And then some of us desire to get rid of sin in our life, but we can't seem to get rid of sin because we aren't desiring to be close to Jesus. It has to be done together. These are it's a mutual pursuit of holiness. We can't aim away from what is not holy without aiming to what is holy. Friends, we need to be close with Jesus. Are you close with Jesus? Would you describe yourself as that?”

#LoveNotChecklist
“But see, friends, the aim of the Christian life, it can be understood that it's to become, you know, less sinful, or that it's become more spiritual. You know, maybe less sinful, less drunkenness, less swearing, less cheating, less porn, less lying, less greed, less pride. Maybe it's, you know, to become more spiritual, more bible studies, more services, more devotionals, more sermons, more podcasts, more prayers, more fasting, more worship. Maybe it's maybe it's more of a social gospel, more good. You gotta become more good, more serving the elderly, more, you know, giving away your money, more recycling to save the planet, more using paper straws rather than plastic, more church leadership, more doing more good stuff is the end goal. But I tell you, you can be doing all these things and more and still missing the whole aim of the Christian life, to become a person of love.”

#RepentAndPrepare
“Are we dressed for the wedding? Are you in your royal attire for the wedding? Because Jesus is coming back for a bride, holy and blameless and pure. So how do we take off take off these these deeds of darkness? That's the good news of the gospel. It's just as simple as confession and repentance. That's how we respond to Jesus' work on the cross. Repentance happens in two movements that we confess what we've done wrong, and we turn away from the wrong, choosing God instead.”
