Day 1: The Silo’s Echo: Designed for More Than Emptiness

A grain silo stands unused, its hollow interior amplifying every whisper. Like that silo, humans feel restless when disconnected from their original design. Solomon’s experiments with knowledge, pleasure, and wealth left him empty because eternity is etched into our hearts. We ache for lasting purpose, not temporary fixes. God shaped us for relationship with Him—the only cure for the echo of loneliness. True satisfaction comes when we stop repurposing ourselves and return to our Maker’s intent. [23:52]

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.”

Day 2: Solomon’s Search: When Everything Leaves You Hungry

Solomon tasted life’s finest offerings—education, romance, luxury—yet still described it as “chasing the wind.” Modern distractions Netflix, sports, or social media numb but don’t satisfy. Anxiety lingers when we treat life like a buffet, grabbing whatever pleases us momentarily. Our hunger points to a deeper need: communion with the eternal God. Only His presence turns our restlessness into rest. [29:23]

Day 3: Genesis Blueprint: Walking With God in the Cool of the Day

Before sin, humans walked with God in the garden’s twilight, working joyfully under His direction. Purpose wasn’t about achievements but presence—being His image-bearers. Like a child’s artwork displayed on a fridge, God celebrates us most when we live as His masterpiece. Anxiety flees when we stop striving to invent meaning and simply abide in our Maker’s “very good” design. [34:29]

Day 4: Anxiety’s Antidote: The Father Who Hears Before You Speak

A child dreads facing parents after misbehaving, stomach knotted with guilt. Yet God invites raw honesty: “Dad, I’m scared. Help.” Prayer isn’t eloquence but exhaling fear into His care. Each “I’m sorry” or “I need You” draws us closer to the Father who designed us for dependence. His Spirit’s fellowship dissolves loneliness, replacing anxiety with the peace of being fully known. Seeking the Kingdom starts with trusting the invisible King’s nearness. When we walk as His hands and feet, loneliness crumbles under the weight of divine purpose. [42:36]

Sermon Summary

The question of meaning rises out of a world where many people feel that something is wrong inside. Loneliness, anxiety, and that nagging sense that life is off do not disappear just because screens keep people connected or because Canada has lots of good things. The world says that people can make up their own purpose, chase their own dream, and figure themselves out, but the silo tells a different story. The silo may look like it could become anything, but it was designed for one particular purpose, and people have a Designer too.

Solomon tried the whole experiment. Solomon learned all he could learn, enjoyed wealth, women, food, and everything this world could offer, yet the echo was still there. Ecclesiastes says that God has made everything beautiful in its time and has set eternity in the human heart. Eternity becomes that little homing beacon, going beep beep beep, saying there is something more than Netflix, success, sports, or whatever else promises satisfaction.

Genesis takes the question all the way back to the beginning. God made human beings as a reflection of himself, called creation very good, and gave people relationship with him and work to do with him. God intended his children to walk with him and care for what he had made. Sin entered when Adam and Eve stopped trusting God and chose to leave the family, and anxiety, hiding, shame, and brokenness followed.

Jesus comes to make things right again. Christ forgives, welcomes broken people back into God’s family, and begins fixing what sin has damaged. Christ deals with the deepest problem by restoring trust in God. The presence of Jesus lifts the echo of anxiety because people begin living in the way they were made to live.

The kingdom is not mainly about becoming famous, powerful, or the best at something. Seeking first the kingdom means seeking the King, living with the faith that Jesus is close, talking with him through the day, and letting him become a best friend. Love, forgiveness, prayer, kindness, thankfulness, and doing what is right are not random religious duties. These simple acts line a life up with its design.

The Father satisfies the heart when it honestly comes to him. The fellowship of the Holy Spirit breaks loneliness as God ministers peace and as love turns people outward toward others. Jesus has dealt with death, holds a better plan than people can imagine, and asks his children to walk with him today.
