As just a matter of integrity, this is a very bad idea. Pastors should not be using the pulpit, either in preaching or in prayers from the pulpit, as a way to say things to people that you wouldn't say to them face-to-face. [00:02:12]

Again, I'm not trying to make it a second blessing or a higher life or just a thing. I just know that there's a difference in the Christian life between people who have truly apprehended what the grace of God means for them in their daily life as Christians, and those who have not. And um this is what God wants us to receive and rest in him. [00:20:53]

You're not going to give something up for God and he's going to fail to repay you in some way. So, God will bless you. God will repay you for anything that you sacrifice for his glory, for his sake. But, Jesus wanted to uh remind Peter and and really this is the crux of that statement. God is free to reward in ways that honor and please him and that sometimes may seem strange or out of order to us. [00:30:51]

It It It's just important for us to understand that our standing before God is on the basis of grace. It's not like we're saved by grace, but then we have to walk and grow by works. But our standing, our position before him, is on the basis of grace. [00:19:59]

We can serve God in everything that we do if we will make it a conscious focused effort to say, "Lord, I want to do this as unto you and glorify you." Washing the dishes after dinner tonight can be service to God if you'll dedicate it to him. [01:00:39]

Paul sat down with Timothy and he said, "Timothy, look, you don't have to become circumcised. You are righteous because you put your faith in Jesus Christ. And that is your ground of righteousness. Getting circumcised isn't going to make you any closer to God, but if you do submit to circumcision, uh it will make our evangelistic work among the Jews uh easier." [00:27:51]

It's a failure on a lot of levels. First of all, it's a failure of being a good expositor of the scriptures, because you're twisting an opportunity from the scriptures to kind of get at a person or to speak at them. But, I think probably even more than that, it's a failure of courage. [00:02:31]

I wouldn't have a problem if the pastor was blaming some chronic problem on the devil. Say, "Okay, pastor, that may very well be true, but you're the our pastor. If you can't get a upper hand over the devil attacking in your life, then that's a serious problem that needs to be addressed." [00:12:11]

okay, there's there's a a theoretical answer to this and there's a practical answer to it. The The theoretical answer is, look, there are three classic enemies in the Christian life, the world, the flesh, and the devil. And honestly, sometimes it's difficult to discern and it sounds like your pastor is probably blaming some things on the devil that probably could be more appropriately attributed to the flesh. [00:11:19]

How Eve was deceived, but Adam apparently rebelled with eyes wide open. Uh it doesn't mean that Eve didn't sin, but it is a different thing to be to sin because you're deceived. It's still sin, of course, but it's a different thing than knowing exactly what you're doing. And to walk into sin with eyes wide open. That was the difference between the sin of Eve, who was deceived, and Adam, who was not. So, part of it was just raw rebellion. [00:21:56]

What What I tell guys all the time is make verse-by-verse teaching through books of the Bible the foundation of your pulpit ministry. And when that's your foundation, you have complete freedom to do a series that's more topical or that from time to time because you're based on a good foundation. [00:10:04]

if the pastor is genuinely expositing the scriptures and what we would call rightly dividing the word of truth and it it speaks right to somebody in the church, well, then that's one of those situations, if the shoe fits, wear it. [00:05:07]

And when we take time to put away other distractions, other things that might be our focus in everyday life, and say, "I'm going to focus in on the Lord, on his word, on worship, on the family of God," we can't help but receive a special blessing from God. [00:16:25]

Yes, there are a lot of Christians today who are getting ripped off in spiritual warfare, who need to be aware of it and and and learn how to do exactly the verse that you mentioned, "Resist the devil and see him flee." And they may may need help from other brothers and sisters to help strengthen them in resisting the devil and seeing him flee. [00:26:19]

It It It also cannot be denied that when a person takes their own life, that they are almost always under severe attack from the enemy whose mission is to steal, to kill, and to destroy. And what they've done should not be justified, but they shouldn't it shouldn't just be called sin. There's also an aspect of pity involved in this. [00:43:44]
