#JesusIsShield
“``So it took me a while to get here, but this is my main point. Jesus Jesus is your son and shield. Alright. He's your son and shield. And if he's your son and shield, you can you can you can be like Jesus. You can have enough humility to just yield. So you know what? It's okay. Enough strength to stay centered and just like, no, my highway is to Zion. I just that's where that's where strength goes to strength and I'm going I'm going to to the presence of God. Certainly enough boundaries to be somewhat, you know, to be replenished but you don't have to promote or protect yourself.”

#LayDownYourArmor
“It's a long way to say, like, as you become like Jesus, as you trust in whatever God wants, not my will but yours be done, you can you can let go of some things. You can lay down some of your armor in the presence of God. And you could say, okay, if if you're gonna if you're gonna manage my reputation, if you're gonna deal with the people that are coming at me, then I'm just gonna rest in you. and I'm not gonna just try to protect myself or use this as a resume building opportunity. Just just rest.”

#TrustNotFear
“But the sun and shield I I love this one. The sun and shield. Sun in a battle is essential. And because you gotta see what's going on, you gotta be able see. He's our son and our shield. So now he's visibility and protection. And if Yahweh could be there for you, what could you lay down? Oh, so you you see it all, and you you you protect, and so I can just trust, and you could start to breathe a little bit. And then not everything we do would have to be operating out of fear. It could just be out of an overflow of love from the one who who cares. And and you could be one of those blessed, those happy ones who trust in Yahweh.”

#RestInGod
“And so maybe this could help you put down your armor a little bit, a hopeful pathway that that won't disappoint you. Maybe it seems way out of reach. And I'm not even talking about just emotive stuff. I'm talking about just, okay, allegiance to the God of the angel armies through Jesus Christ seats me with him and this gives me all the protection I need. And whatever else happens to me, I'll let him cover that because he's in charge of that. And so where in your life does self protection just make sense? Just, well, duh. And then what would it cost you to hand that over to him?”

#DareToDesireGod
“Like, before a god who can do immeasurably more than all you ask or imagine, what do you want? Like, what? What what what? Not what do you want from me anyway, but just like, what do you what do you want? What would what would satisfy you? What would have you just, like, make your home there? Like, yeah, that's what I want. You know? Does your desire for God outweigh your fear of wanting something and not getting it? Could you could you dare to want? Could you dare to say, okay, if that's on offer, I gotta get it? I mean, that's I didn't know that was an option. Intimacy, satisfaction, like, that's something I would oh, I would want that. But there's no time for that. Moving on. Next point. Right? I mean, that's kind of the way we live and so I only slightly make a joke of that.”

#BeyondBeliefToLonging
“I know I could do this. This is what I could do. I could admit that I believe in God, sign up for most of the stuff on your list. Oh, yeah. Do you believe that? Do you believe that? Do you believe that? Do you believe that? Yeah. Could do that. Sure. Where do you need me to be? What mark do I need to meet? I'll be responsible. I'll show up. Sure. Whatever you mean. Whatever that I believe. Yes. I believe. And that's different than wanting to be with God. That's different than like, if you don't if you don't do it, I'm gonna die here. Like, my soul faints, like, faints for God. That's diff you guys, that's different. Right? I'm glad you're here.”

#WornOutByWanting
“And many of you have said, well, I know what I wanted and I wore myself out to get it and then it didn't satisfy me at all. I could tell your story about 40 times in this room. That's what I thought I wanted, and I just wore myself out to try to get it. And then I realized I don't want that. That's a scary thought. I mean, right, for our culture? That's a scary thought. Like, they told me this would be good. This I would they told me I would love this. And my boss said, you just did this, it's gonna be great. You're gonna your soul will be sad. I don't think any boss tried to say that, but, like, but that's what we thought. Right? If you did this, your soul would be satisfied. Like, no. You're lying. You're lying. I'm lying to myself. If I think that something out there other than him is gonna, like, satisfy that.”

#ResumeVsRelationship
“The instinct, I mean, we're in a we're in a LinkedIn culture, you know, the instinct to continue to build your resume even while you're sleeping. It just never turns off. Like, I gotta And and self protection and self promotion are just obvious. Right? They're not confessed as sin. We don't say, Lord, I apologize. I I cannot believe I engaged in self protection and self promotion again today. I I I haven't even thought about what that might have done to your heart that you want to do that for me. I never even thought about that as sin. I just thought, well, yeah, you got to. Because fear.”
