#WordIsWeapon
“``But the idea of of the church militant, it implies enemies. We have enemies. think some people take Christ's calling to love our enemies as to mean that we shouldn't have any. But how could we love them and pray for them if we didn't have them? We do have enemies. But the apostle Paul said, our greatest enemy is not flesh and blood. He says that in Ephesians. But also in Ephesians, he says, we are not to be taken captive by human cunning and craftiness and deceitful schemes. So there is a human element and an even greater nonhuman element. So our warfare must be spiritual first and foremost. It must be waged not with physical weapons, but with the truth. And that is why I believe David brings up enemies so much in a psalm about the word of God because it is by and with this weapon of truth that we fight. So if you are weak in the word, you will be weak in this war.”

#ChurchMilitant
“The Christians of the past divided the church into two main parts, the church triumphant and the church militant. And the church triumphant is that portion of the church currently in glory, those who have triumphed and departed from the war to retire in heaven, while the church militant are those of us still here in the trenches. And I find that conception of the church striking and inspiring. We are a part of the church militant. We are still engaged in battle, and this is how we are to think of ourselves. And much of the weakness of modern Christianity stems from forgetting who we are. We are the church militant. We are not at peacetime yet. This is wartime. And wartime citizens of a nation must rally together and make sacrifices and commit and contribute and persevere.”

#NotHereForApproval
“Jesus was known for not being swayed by appearances and not caring about public opinion. He stood out because this is so rare. He simply refused to cater to the world. He didn't want anyone's accolades except the fathers. He never modified or massaged his message to garner favor or influence, and it showed. He didn't care about what the majority of people care about. He was frustratingly because he he had the favor of the father, and he knew it, and he didn't need anyone else's. He didn't need the culture's approval. And we can learn from that. We can learn from our Lord here because why should we care about people's opinions when those opinions are out of alignment with God's opinion? The”

#DeathAndResurrection
“Because if you understand our salvation and don't water it down the way many people want to in our day, our salvation is death and resurrection. What what are we praying for when we pray for someone to be saved? We're praying for them to die. I'm not just making this up. Pastor John read it from Romans six as he baptized Aaron last Sunday. This is what we say as we baptize. Right? Pastor Tim says it, like, buried with Jesus in his death. You don't bury living people, do you? To come to Christ, you must die. This is what baptism is a picture of, dying with Christ. And then and only then are you raised with him to new life.”

#BeyondWorldApproval
“And this is what I want for myself and for our church, this beautiful, powerful freedom that the world cannot control us by its ostracism or criticism, or as David would say, it's scorn and contempt and derision. We don't need their approval or even care about it because we have the approval of our heavenly father in our savior Jesus Christ. But I do feel like it needs to be said that worldliness can take different forms. Worldliness is not synonymous, in other words, with liberal ideas. Worldliness is wanting the approval of the world, and the world is not united.”

#HopeInChrist
“He will be with us. And so we we have hope. We we have a lord who knows the way out of the grave. So we have hope. We have a lord who showed us what it means to fight the fight of faith with the word of god. So we have an example. We have a lord who took not only the condemnation of the world upon himself, but the condemnation of god so that we could have deliverance and salvation and peace. May we stand in him and in his strength, and may we look to him for our vindication.”

#PillarOfTruth
“So he knows what is best for those he loves. He knows that what the friends of God need most. They he he they need to know God's testimonies. That's what he wants from them. They need to hear who God is and what he's done. They need to understand what he desires of them and see the way forward. They need to feed on the truth and take refuge in it. In this world so full of lies around every corner, they need to take refuge in the truth. And David wants to be that bulwark for them. It says, right, as they turn to me, let them turn to me and and know your testimonies. That this is what we should want to be for our friends and for our children. Pillars of truth, a safe haven from the lies and the slander and the ugliness of the world, a good solid friend, a tree rooted in the good soil of the gospel whose canopy can provide shade and shelter from the tumultuous weather of the world. Let this be your prayer and ambition.”

#LeanOnTheLord
“In conflict, we must lean on the Lord. He must be our strength and our shield. He's our only hope. And this too is why the word of God is so central to David in his conflicts because it's where he goes for stability in the storm, to remember what's true and good and beautiful to to it's it's how he keeps his head above water and how he's reminded of the big picture. There's a bigger picture beyond what we can see sometimes.”
