We would never serve a cherished guest last-minute scraps, yet we often offer God our leftover time, energy, and resources. This dissonance reveals misplaced priorities. Honoring God with our “first fruits” means intentionally setting aside the best of what we’ve been given—not reluctantly handing over what remains. Just as a host prepares the finest meal for their guest, we position God at the center of our lives, trusting His worthiness to receive our primary allegiance. True worship begins when we stop treating the Creator as an afterthought. [04:33]

“Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.”

Day 2: From Bag Mentality to Barn Bounty: Planting in Faith

Holding tightly to seeds of time, talent, or treasure guarantees they’ll never grow. Like a farmer trusting unseen processes, we’re called to plant generously—even when the harvest feels uncertain. God multiplies what we surrender, transforming small acts of obedience into abundance that blesses others. Clinging to control keeps us in scarcity; releasing our grip opens us to miracles only He can grow. [43:21]

Obedience isn’t about certainty but courage: acting on His word before we grasp the full story. The safest place isn’t knowing the plan, but walking with the Planner. [32:02]

Day 5: Living in God’s Economy Where First Fruits Multiply

Culture screams “accumulate”—God whispers “invest.” His economy flips worldly logic: giving first fruits becomes the gateway to abundance, not a loss. Like the widow’s oil that never ran dry, He blesses surrendered resources beyond human calculation. When we release our grip, we free God to write stories of provision that bear His signature, not ours. [21:54]

Sermon Summary

The houseguest picture puts the whole issue right on the table. A loved guest does not get leftovers scraped from everybody else’s plate. A valued guest gets the first place, the best portion, and real attention. God deserves far more than leftover time, leftover energy, leftover gifts, and leftover dollars, because every breath, every skill, every purpose, and every resource already comes from him.

Proverbs 3:5-10 speaks like a father teaching a son how to walk wisely. Solomon says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart,” and that word “all” matters. God does not ask for a side corner of the heart while everything else stays under personal control. God calls his people to trust his heart, his wisdom, and his provision with everything that has been entrusted to them.

God’s heart can be trusted because God does not change from Genesis to Revelation. The same God who calls his people to remembrance and obedience is the God whose heart is good, whose plans are for a future and a hope, and whose desire is not to harm but to lead. The heart always reveals what it trusts. When peace is missing, the soul often keeps chasing satisfaction in places God never designed to satisfy.

God’s way leads to God’s blessing, but that blessing is not first about more stuff. The greatest blessing is the presence of the Father in the place of obedience. Culture says wealth, leisure, status, and affirmation will finally settle the soul, but Solomon says the eyes of man are never satisfied. True contentment is found when God’s provision lines up the heart with God’s will.

The firstfruits picture brings the matter down to faith. A farmer gives the first and best of the harvest before knowing what the rest of the crop will produce. Seeds kept in a bag may have a pretty picture on the front, but seeds on a shelf never become barns full from harvest. God calls his people away from a bag mentality into a barn mentality, where time, talents, and treasures are planted in obedience and God produces what only he can produce.

Wise people put God first because he is always wise, good, and worthy of first place. Giving God the first is worship. It shows that God, not wealth, comfort, control, or pleasure, sits at the center.
